PhotoShop Help

I still can't seem to change colors yet.
Is it possible to make this BLACK?
....and not the whole freakin picture.

My lame attempt.

1) lightened image
2) selected body, adjusted colour within selection .. while there dropped it over the wheels
3) selected background left behind and moved it down ... should have cropped the pic

Now thats a 'minivan'

I made a new layer over the original, changed the layer style to overlay, then painted over just the body with black

 

Well now, those are interesting!
It could sit lower (Needs bags)and Flexi's blackover does the trick for color.
