I read the excellent HAMB tech article on making hood side panels. It answered all of my questions except that I want to use aluminum for my panels. Any suggestions on what gauge aluminum I should use? I will be mounting the panels with Dzus fasteners.
    Thanks.

for hoods and hood sides i usually use 3003 H-14 .062 or .063 thick
you could get away with .050 if you had to

    good luck

  4. Zach is right on with his recommendation. That said, I found .062 to be pretty tough to bend for my hood top so I bought a 36"x48" sheet of .050 from Ron Covell (800-747-4631) or e-mail covell@cruzio.com . That info may be outdated now since that was in 2001.

The .050 was a little easier to work with. Your mileage may vary. I've since become marginally more skilled and would use .062 on my next project.
