    I need help fellahs got a strong running 389 in my 63 catalina wagon but the trans ate **** on me what automatic trans will bolt up? Let me rephrase this what dependable automatic trans would bolt up?

    They make an adapter for a GM auto.

    Because of the trans mounted starter, your limited to your choices, one upgrade would be a super hydromatic from a Bonneville or Startchief. It's a dual coupling trans from 56 to 64. 56-60 has an earlier bolt pattern and won't work. Those aren't cheap to rebuild either. Unless if you found a good one already. I would stay away from another slim-jim.

    Another option would be to buy an adapter kit from Wilcap or Bendtsens to mount a later model th400 in there.

    yeah i am really trying to avoid those trans... i'll check out the adapter.

    i hate to pull that motor. i'm almost beaten down to the point of doin the sbc.

    Brother thank you soooo much!!! just went on the Bendstens site looks like a winner!
