OK, Here is the deal. The tours are 600.00 for 50 people. If we have less than 50 the cost is still 600.00 I have a list right now of 25 folks, some of them are from the first list that promised to send the MO's and never did. Let's ***ume that of these 25, 5 will drop out. That leaves 20, at 600.00 that figures to 30.00 a head. I ***ume that we will get enough to make it 30 folks. That would be 20.00 each. I don't want to be screwing around with extra charges or making refunds at the door. This is enough work as it is and I don't need the extra h***le. So here is what I am going to do. The 2nd group price is going to be 20.00 each. There will be NO refunds if we go over 30 by just a few folks. However if we get to 50 the price will drop to 12.00. IF WE DON'T MAKE 30, ALL MO'S WILL BE MAILED BACK TO THE CONCERNED PARTY'S. IT MAY NOT HAPPEN BEFORE THE EVENT!!! You can PM me for the address to send the MO (Money orders only, No checks accepted). I will be PMing those on my list that expressed an interest. Thanks for your cooperation. BB
bttt...I'm one of the ***hats that dropped the ball and forgot to send my money order. $$$ is on its way...
I gotta tell you guys, if you are NOT on the first list yet and you will be in Detroit for the Autorama you MUST attend this event. No matter what the cost. Trust me when I tell you it is a once in a lifetime opportunity ESPECIALLY if you live out of town. The GM Heritage Center is NOT open to the public and for Bob to arrange this is HUGE. I can't stress to you enough, you must attend this event or you WILL regret it later.
I wanted to chime in here and Bob gave his blessing; I had the chance to visit the GM Heritage Center last month for an article in the April issue of Hemmings Cl***ic Car. I spent several hours poring over the cars in the collection and thus had way too many photos for use in the article, so the extras all went up on the Hemmings blog: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/01/22/a-visit-to-the-gm-heritage-center-part-1/ http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/01/23/a-visit-to-the-gm-heritage-center-part-2/ http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/...-the-gm-heritage-center-race-and-muscle-cars/ http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/...he-gm-heritage-center-concepts-and-show-cars/ http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/01/26/a-visit-to-the-gm-heritage-center-the-displays/ The cool thing about the Heritage Center is that the vehicles rotate in and out of the display area all the time, so consider the above photos a teaser of what you will see should you join Bob on the tour. Some might be there, some might not, but they're all worth checking out. dan
Thanks for posting those Dan: This one is familiar as hell, Maggie & I stopped at Roadstars work on our way to the Jalopy Showdown and they were just finishing up with this. It's got some very cool small things on it that make it VERY UNIQUE. I'll see if I can find those interior pics. I will be posting the address and directions a little later. BB
Ok, here is another dumb question...When is it? I'll be in Michigan the 16th-24th, and would love to take the tour if it falls in that window sometime...
Directions from Cobo Center to GM Heritage Center. http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=o...12-2609&ie=utf-8&v=2.2&cv=4.2.0198.2451&hl=en I don't know yet how we are gonna handle the folks that need transportation but there are a bunch of folks that have offered to give rides to the riderless. I suppose that we will have to meet someplace at about noon to get everyone loaded up. I don't have a clue where this could take place but maybe some of the locals could jump in and help out. BB
Bob, my suggestion would be to have a group meet at the Holiday Inn Express where a number of you have cars already and you guys can leave from there. I will have a car, and Megan, Chaz, Earl Schieb, etc, will all have cars up on the roof of Cobo Hall so a group can leave from there as well.
Your going to get 70+ people together and a decision made on who'd riding with who and out of the building and to the cars in 1/2 an hour?? Your joking right? I can bring up to 3 more cars with drivers such as Jolly Roger driving my parents SUV and Steve driving their Buick etc, BUT I'll need plans ahead of time to arrange this. I don't want to bring extra cars and pay for parking on the roof TWICE if they aren't going to be used. Also, if Megans car is not needed then she can ride with me and if Chaz's vechile is not needed him and Steve can also ride with me. Really a seperate posts needs to be made to see how many people actually need a ride there and how many people have extra seats in their cars for people, then plans made. Keep in mind, UNLESS you have a three day p***, meaning a car in the show, you are NOT getting into the ba*****t till the show opens at 12 noon on Friday. ALSO, meeting in the "lobby" of COBO HALL anytime around the doors opening is a cluster f**k. There are people everywhere waiting to get in and the line is HUGE. Just my thoughts
Will you be in Michigan or the Metro Detroit area? If your coming to Detroit I'd like to invite you over for dinner one night during your stay.
ok i missed the first one what do i do to get in on this one? i will need two tickets. the place is around the corner from my house so i would just meet yall there.
EEEEEERRRRRRRTTTTTT!!!!! we were supposed to send money orders for that??? i coulda sworn you said we would pay you at the Heritage Center when we got there for the tour?? did i just dream that or did i miss a memo somewhere??? i'm plannin to come and will likely have a few folks with me as well. let me know what i need to do Bob. i'm confused!!
Is it getting warm in here, or is it just me...... I'll have my panel truck, so if ya don't mind sitting on the floor, I can haul at least 4 -6 additional
I'm in on tour #1 and can probably stuff 2 extras in my Trailblazer with the boys and I but I can get myself to Warren just as well and meet up there if you tell me where it is. Whatever is better.
Quote Your going to get 70+ people together and a decision made on who'd riding with who and out of the building and to the cars in 1/2 an hour?? Your joking right? Nope not joking at all. I was just ***uming that the folks that were going to get there themselves would read this post and do that. The map and directions are in post 10 of this very thread. The only folks we need to get together are those that need a ride and those that can provide one. Should be less than 20 people I imagine. BB
you had better plan on at least a 45 to 1 hour ride as our new state tree is popping up more and more lately, i travel 5 to 6 hundred miles a day in se mich dosnt give a time for friday what time will group 2 be????? i'll be bringing myself and my international wrecker, as i know its at gm at 12 and mound complex as i grew up (not realy) out their and i will just need to know which gate to enter give me a time and a paypal account to send money to the sooner the better thanks dave
Per Bob's first post in this thread..... "You can PM me for the address to send the MO (Money orders only, No checks accepted"
Thanks, Bob. I didn't click the link. Now I know where it is. I'm up there 3 times a week but never paid attention. I always have to turn left and go in to GM VEC for lovely meetings with Purchasing and Engineering. They are so helpful. One tells me my parts are ****, the other one tells me they cost too much.
