Has anyone ever cruised over there to see whats goin on? AKA anyone know if the man can easily be reached, if he's open to fans coming and meeting him?
Gene is the most humble, down to earth, approachable custom "star" out there. He'll talk to you for hours if given the opportunity. This time of year though he is attending alot of car shows so stopping by his place would be a ****shoot to catch him home. He was just at the GNRS, and on that Saturday he was in Turlock. Since your in CA that would have been the perfect opportunity to walk up and introuduce yourself and ask to visit. In a couple of weeks he'll be here in Detroit. He's being honored as builder of the year. Great guy!
Just surround him with 10,000 Japanese who cant speak English, and mention pretty girls, and he's VERY amiable and welcoming So he's getting some award for being a ****** legend?????? How do they decide WHEN to give hime that.....You kinda get a feeling that he's been a legend for a LOOOOONG time already Just askin, is all??
GENE'S DOORS ARE OPEN TO ANYONE. ****... HE LETS ME IN.. GREAT GUY. HE IS IN SACTO. RIGHT NOW.. GIVE HIM A CALL AFTER MONDAY AS HE IS IN AND OUT.. YOU CAN REACH HIM AT (661) 824-4728.
I turned a corner and ran into him at Pate swap meet, in TX, about 7 years ago. Nobody, knew who he was, he just was selling some parts. Real cool guy
I called Gene's place about 2 months ago and believe it or not he answered the phone. I didn't know who it was for about 5 or 6 minutes into the conversation. When he said "this is Gene" I almost dropped the phone. He got one of his guys on the phone to help me with my problem and excused himself cause he had to leave to go to the airport. Super nice guy! Reminded me of the first time I talked to Chip Foose and Alex Gambino. They are all very unusual individuals and appear to not take their fame seriously.
We are dealing with real folks here ,not the hyped up shallow individuals who think that because they have 2 cents to rub together they are better than us.
