Hi, I´m new at this forum and have introduced me in the New member introduction section. I need some help and maybe some info about my starter in my 28 Ford special coupe. When I press the starter rod there is only a swoshing or wining sound and no movements on the flywheel. Is the bendix-drive broken or it doesn´t get close enough to the flywheel? I had the starter apart to check the brushes and also se so the drive was freely and grease it up a little. When I later put it back to the bell-house and the bendix-drive was in contact to the flywheel and I try to start it turn the flywheel around but for the second time it just make the sound and nothing happen. Thanks for any help or suggestion. Brg Andy_SSPP
Thanks for the tip Bruce. I washed away all the grease and put on a thin layer of some graphite grease and it worked perfect. Now I got problem with the carburator. It won´t let any gas into the manifold. So I have to disambly it and check all the jets and clean everything up. It´s an neverending story but a fun story to start up this car! /Andy
Lookee here--a free Model A carb book! http://www.model-a.org/ Only thing I don't like is his fuel level gauge...should be drilled out for biggest possible tubing
Oh, yes--save your original jets, Te repro jets in the kit will make an excellent Christmas present for an enemy.
