I am tring to get some different projects going so I was eying this truck cab for a project. I think it's late 30's but not sure. He wants 150.00 for it.
I'd say looks like a 46 at fender, 40 to 46 pretty much same cab, somebody correct me if im wrong.wouldnt be first time.
If You've got more time than money, like me, take your time and straighten 'er out. It would be good experience and you'd have a great sense of accomplishment and something to show for your time when you were done.
I was thinking the same thing. I was looking for something for my first chop. Or should I keep it the way it is?
Definately 39, 40 ford truck. Chopping is a matter of personal preference. they look good either way. If chop and you loose much head room you want be able to recline the seat like you can in a car and it may cramp your leg room depending on how tall you are. There wasn't an abundance of leg room in a 40 as best I remember. Get cab and other parts and figure that out later! Thanks, BOBBY FORD
I also think the front fenders look like big truck versions with the larger radius and (I think, not real sure on this one) a wider width.
buy it! The 30's and 40's Chevy and Ford cabs that I have found cost around $225 to $350 with doors and dash.
I guess I am buying it. It has a hood and fenders. The fenders are trashed but the hod is perfect. Really just wan the cab though.
...if that windsheild frame IS from that cab, it'd have to be a 39 cab, wouldn't it? Wasn't 39's the last Ford cab to have an opening windsheild? ...I agree front fenders are 42-7 Ford.
I'd say that windshield frame didn't come with that cab, It's definately a 40-46, look at the cove in the beltline on the doors. I would say it's not a 1/2 ton, those running boards are to short, the cab is the same on big trucks and the 1/2 ton. The only difference is the fenders and running boards, and running gear ( frame ect.). 40 1/2 ton trucks had a rear frame mounted gas tank with gas cap in rear fender, the rest had tanks under the seat with gas cap in rear of cab, I can't remember if I could see a gas cap on your cab pic. I would definately buy it, If your not interested In building it you could get your money back, and save some old vintage tin from the crusher.
tell him it's a big pile and point out every flaw. trash the car as well as his dog, then offer him $25.00 for it and act like you are doing him a favor. if he accepts tell him you'll be back tuesday at 11:30 and then never return. call him once month telling him you'll be by the next day. then send him here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241448
