Ok so I have made plans to drive 4 and half hours next weekend to pick up this 27 RPU. I have always wanted one of these and now I have a chance to buy it. The guy wants 300.00 for but it has some problems. It is shot full of holes, missing a right side door and has some cancer. I was going to go for it any way, but if you guys think better deals are to be had then I might wait and see if smething better comes along. I am still going to build a rodster or coup hotrod based on a model a frame. Please help me decide.

I wouldn't waste my time or money on it. The bed sides look like wooden window shutters.

I bought a whole cowell for $ 150.00 + Frt. The Patch panels I bought from an outfit in Texas. It does not have to be a pu you can put a turtle deck on it and just have a roadster.

I can't believe you're even asking! True the drive will be long, but it seems like a good price to me. I'd buy it. Although, those bedsides are pretty hideous...;)

I think the only way to tell, is to check it out in person. stand inside the body shell and tweak it side to side. also note if the doors will be able to work...or are simply paper thin. If the metal is too thin...and all unpainted stuff in NE is too thin!, then you'll know. If it's simply shot up and needing the cowl patch, it will be a good bodyman's training.

Are the tubs exactley the same for a roadster as it is for a pickup? Yeah the bed is hideous, I am going to use the box they built as a table for working on the body.

Ok so the tub bodies are the same as the roudster only the trurtle or bed are different? I am thinking if the body is to thin I will part it out and find something more solid.

looks like a good deal to me, for those of you who think it is to beat for the price then go find one in better shape for that amount or less.

The cowl is a throw away. The box is "one person's taste only". For $300 you're buying one door and and most likely weak sub-rails and a bashed in tail pan. There has to be better stuff out there. Or else, don't waste the gas to go look at it right now but tell him you've got $100 for the body and you intend to call back every two weeks to see if he still has it. Make a call every two weeks and I bet it'll be your's...... in a month or so..... and then you've got to track down some better parts. I have a cowl and a pair of doors, but the shipping will hurt.

How good are the doors and how much?
    thanks

  23. The oly way to make sure something better comes along is to tie your money up in this one. You'll see three better deals on the way home:D

Id try to talk him down when you get there . but id buy it for the dash and door there worth close to 300

  25. Better to have it and have it be shitty than to not have anything at all. All I can ever find is cowls or tin that is just literally rotted to pieces.

Appears to me it is the front half of a touring car and not a RPU. The back tub is different on the pick up than what oyu have in the photo.

$300 is the top end for what your getting in return here.

Naw, I've got the front half of a '26 or '27 touring myself, and the curved bit at the back is actually a seatback that unbolts from the sides, which are pretty much straight. Behold the glory of Crap-Photo-O-Vision:

So if it's not a real RPU, maybe it's a roadster minus the turtledeck?

I think you are right. It's a roadster missing the turtle deck. The T pick up box isn't going to look right on the back of that thing.

With a lot of sheet metal talent, a lot of money, and a lot of patience, you might be able to pull it off. I think I'd pay twice that amount and get something a little more substancial. If you do get it be sure to brace the shit out of it for the ride home. You don't want to have it fold up like a walmart lawn chair on the way home.
