The wheels will get painted black, I just got in the bare metal mode. [IMG] BTW, the wheels are 16x5 rear and 16x3-1/2 front.

Yes, kinda. They are 36 rear forgings with 40 front wishbone tubes connected in the front with a Model A front yoke and ball. I fab'd the Z to clear the frame rails.

1937-40 V8-60 cars used the 3-1/2" wide wheels. The 40 style wheels are really hard to find. These are 37-39 wide five which are a little more common, but are still kinda neat to have. The 5" wide rear wheels are 39-42 3/4-ton p/u, which are rare as well.

I like your chrome reverse and WWW's, it has a late 50's look to it that seems to go along with the hairpins, sbc, etc. Then again I really like 16's with BW's, so either would look good. [IMG]

Here is a better pic of the front wheel...

  21. Loks good Nealin'!!!

    What size rubber???

Are you going to fab a bed... or use a stock one... or a stock one cut down... or a flat bed made out of oak ala Dr.J???

I'm sure you'll make the bed look as *****en as the rest...

also, how are you going to finish off the top of the doors and back-cab?? What about a windshield??

    Sam.

  22. Thanks for the info on the wheels. Can't wait to see that car in person. See you at LA Roadster show with your "special" part.

7.50-16 rear & 5.00/5.25-16 front...just like the restored Doane Spencer car.

Thanks. I have a 33-34 bed that I am going to shorten to fit the 32 wheelbase.

A lot of cutting, fitting and welding. I am using 30-31 roadster windshield parts and upper dash rail. It fits the 32 cab pretty well.

I hope by using as many Ford parts as possible to make it look "real". Like DRD said on Saturday, how many people really know what a real 32 roadster pick up is supposed to look like?

I am only using the door skins. I am going to build narrower inner door structures and form a door top that will flow into the dash like a roadster should. The back of the cab will get a sheetmetal flange and an oak tack strip like stock.

I have my work cut out.

We have a baby due in September and I think I am going to have this running for the Rattle Can in October...we'll see. [IMG]

Neal - You may have heard this countless times already but I'm telling you again, do all you want on the car before the baby gets here. This isn't meant to be an "Oh man, the baby is taking time from my car" type of post. That's rediculous. Just letting you know that it's insane how much time you'll want to spend with the kid - and everything else can go choke.

Back to the truck - Can't really say anything other than it's looking great and I'm curious to see how the windshield area works out. Have you mocked up the bed yet?

Kevin - I know what you speak of. This will be our second child, our son just turned 5 and he is a great help. My wife told me I better get as much done on the "jalopy" (as she calls it) before September. I said October isn't that much after September, so I am shooting to have it at the Rattle Can Nats. It may have to go on a trailer, but I have that goal.

Now that I have the ch***is at least all tacked together, I am about ready to start piecing the body together.

I will post some pics when I get the bed and windshield on.

Well then I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. My baby girl is the smartest kid in the world - a beautiful little genius. Fifteen months and knows her body parts and that a cow says "moooo". No other kid ever did that at that age did they? [IMG] I'm sure if she wants to it won't be long before she's hanging out in the ba*****t and handing me tools... It'll be rad.

Can't wait for the next pics. Will an A windshield frame fit or are you building something from scratch? I'll need to build my own so I'm hoping to glean some info there.

My RPU is really a late '40's looking hot rod but I've screwed it up by tossing a SBC in the mix. Most cars are screwed up in one way shape or form like that.

Neal, your "Jalopy" is dead nuts ON! You've nailed it!

Awesome. (New babies rock too! Congrats!)

A 30-31 Roadster W/S frame will fit quite well. That will be one thing that is correct, as Henry actually used the Model A W/S frame on the 32 roadster pickups.

My boy is so smart, he even noticed what is different about my wheels than all of the other wide fives... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
