Does anyone work for UPS or have access to the color code on the new two tone paint sceme trucks? Not the old brown but the greyish brown color. I like the color and plan on painting my t roadster this color. Thanks!
They usually keep their color codes secret. For the same reason the old trucks were destroyed and never sold.....iden***y theft. They don't want people stealing their iden***y. Clark
yea, i don't think you can buy their colors, but, you may be able to get the paint store to match it pretty close.
Yeah I can try and find something close to match but it would be much easier if I just had the secret code! By the way Clark, not trying to steal their iden***y, its just a color I like.
I can get you realy close if you go into your paint store and tell them you need 2 old VW colors....Anthracite grey and Texas brown. if you need a darker brown then again the VW color from the 50s bus is Chestnut brown...you should be almost on the money.
yeah I now vw has a color like cfish said... I beleive it is also on the audi tt its a pretty cool grey
I like guys like you.... You are crazy! Ha! Cant wait to see it. It would be a really boring world if we painted everything black like I do. Go for it!
I always thought the old trucks were destroyed but there is one in our town turned in to moble coffe stand still the same brown on the front
Damn, I have a Martin-Senour code(exact UPS brown) for the dark brown....But I don't have the code for the grey.. The codes can be obtained... if ya know where to look.. Fleet paint chip Books, however i don't have a fleet book past 2000
UPS told me it is a patented color and they do not let there old trucks go public. this is very similar and has a Buick nailhead for power
ive seen a really neat ......(yikes VW!!!) brown with metal flake, going for the ups theme. looked cool. try that! just a simple opinion.
they were supposed to be destroyed but for the right amount of money you could buy one. all the s****per did was send ups the same picture from a different angle of the same truck. i used to buy engines and wheels and tires from the local guy that had the salvage contract. find out who has the local contract to repair the trucks and they would know the color.
All of our repairs are done "in house", they have their own body shop. Don't know when they started the "Cut them up policy" but, they used to re paint them white and send them to a salvage yard. That was untill they found out that they guy was selling them whole and not for parts. One showed up hauling a farm trailer full of hey with the white paint off the cab doors and you could read the United Parcel Service in the faded paint where they stripped the decals off. Any way, The grey color is on the re branded Overnight tractors than the grey on the UPS trailers. I drive the all brown tractors, but my neighbor drives for UPS freight, I can check with him on the paint code if you are sill interested.
This may be a little OT, but i found this site... http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ant.html most of you may know about it. but i dig the old chip books.
If you can find someone who can mix using hex values: 1. get a color photo of the truck (take it yourself in real life, download a good .jpg (not a .gif) from the web) 2. DIY or send to someone with Photoshop 3. use the color picker tool 4. the data box shows you the hex number code
I'm down with the brown! When I heard about the re-paint them white thing from a driver I almost ****. He said that the ones they did have to send to body shops or the like were painted white, repaired and given back, then re-painted with the brown color once more. Wow.
Not all the trucks were cut up. Here's mine: it still has the vintage scroll-type logo and badge painted on the p***enger side rear panel. It's probably late '40s (judging by the grooved door handles), it's on an International frame with a straight-six with an updraft carb. The body is all-aluminum, including the bread-truck-style, side-sweep rear door. It'll be a cool project . . . someday.
Any new news on this? Does anyone have the code for the normal UPS dark brown? Nick, Thinks it would be an interesting color to paint a hot-rod...With gloss black wheels and chrome hubcaps, of course
hello, I have bought a Mercedes 608 UPS truck. We are converting it into a mobilhome. Here in the Netherlands i can not find the colourcode for the brown, unfortunatly I don't know where to look,.... Who can help me? Bought from a salvage yard in germany, we had to repaint it before receiving papers. (the paint did not last the very wet 400km drive home.) The truck engine was overhauled in 2005, 450000km/300000mls Greetings Dennis.
I worked at a small local hardware store, we loaned out our swatches to customers. So get the swatch collection, go to a UPS depot and see what you can find is the closes....Now that I think about it, the code would be a hell of a lot easier, so try my suggestion if you cant get the code
I drove for "Brown" for five years as a seasonal driver. I was always amazed to see truck cabs in the recycling bins after they were dis***embled for salvage at our local hub. They never ever sold trucks until the late 90's when we had our old Mack's repainted in battleship gray (by brush) before being exported to South America...
