    That painter should be shot.

  6. Damn Marcus, you could have done a better job with a spray can, a six pack and a role of duct tape! Did your brother check out this guys prior work?
I'd put some serious hurt on that fucker!

If it looks better in the pics, I would hate to see it in real life. Time to get the mob together and put a hurtin on that painter. How much $$ did he pay?

that blue looks like it was done with crayola, and I'm not trying to be an asshole or funny. First thing i thought of was stuff I'd colored with markers when I was a kid. What's it supposed to look like? How much was wasted on it and what's he gonna do about it?

Damn... I know you said there was some 'controversy' over the job the guy did, but that's fucked up. Any way to get some relief from the guy, or is it a done deal?

Damn, but thats to the point...I would have to agree. I would have to make a special trip to beat the cash out of his face or ass, and demand a refund that for sure.

Im sorry to hear about this...its truly unfortunate.

Who is the guy who did this? He needs to be taught a lesson in good business.

  13. Yeah.... Thats how we feel too... Its fuckin tragic!! My brothers so sick right now over it...This was a guy whom I've known for a while,I never seen anything he really did that was show.He showed me some pics of a truck he claimed he did once but again that was a pic.He assured us he could handle the job.It appears to us that he used a rattle can believe it or not!!?? My brother bought top quality paint and supplies, the color was supposed to be a Mustang color Tahoe Turquoise..It looks nothing like the color,it does look like the rattle can paint we shot the roof of the 65 and our rims with!!I think all and all my brother was into it over $2800!!! yeah that may nopt be what a super show pro charges but its not chump change neither!!Maaco could have done better!!One of the HAMBers here knows who it is too...He has jeopardized a long relationship as buddies by this bullshit. This is the same guy I was helping out with listing items on ebay also..I sold over $700 worth of items on ebay for him,the agreement was to split all in half, now he wants all the money for himself and to give me some fucked up wire Rivi hubcaps for the work!! Man!! Not even cool!!!

  15. Hey All,

Not trying to be a dick but if you had to shell out over 2.5k for a paint job, wouldnt you research the painter a little better? Man if i had to spend that, I'd be talking to his prior customers amd seeing the work in the flesh. Any reputable painter would agree to that, after all what do they have to hide and if there work is killer, they would want you to see it on a car, not a photo...so you could gauge properly the quality of the work. Always looks different in a pic compared to real life.

Guess the second reccommendation is never work with children or animals or pay friends to do automotive work for you [IMG]

who the fuck pays 2500 bucks for a paint job and dosnt look at the dudes past work

  17. I had one of my Caddy limousines done, by a guy everyone swore by, and when it came back, there were rivets and bondo and DA marks and SAND in the paint.
Oh, and I did go to court. He's in jail and I still never got paid back.

    Sorry MARCUS... that sux.
That driver's door is the worst! Not even a close match to the rest of the car.
I'd say a beating is well in order.

I've only painted one car, and I could've done ten times better. The local econo bake place could do better with their $150 jobs. I'd threaten with lawsuit to get the money back and try it yourself. No way could you do any worse. Hell you could probably find a high school auto shop class to paint it and it'd look better.

I never just leave a car either, I'd be there daily checking on progress... nipping it in the bud before the whole car got the business...

Why did your brother walk out of the shop with the car if he was not happy? If this is a friend, something should have been in writing stating that $2300 was received for services rendered. Thats a fair amount of cash to part with on a verbal agreement.

Seems like a shady deal to me, but then again it is YOUR brother... I'd keep the threats and bragging off the internet. It could get you in trouble down the line.

    marcus,
did he really expect to get a '' show '' paint job for 2300 bux ?...also is the guy a custom car painter or a car painter ?..i am not tryin to stir the pot . but really there IS a difference.....you dont take a motorcycle to a car mechanic or vise versa..see what i am getting at?..yeah the car looks like shit . sorry but he somewhat got what he paid for....and what do you mean the customer ? i thought it was your brothers car......did i miss something?....i actually think the lay out is o.k. but the execution sucks......seriously not tryin to kick you when you're down but shop around and look at peoples work. talk to past customers and see if they were happy. ask them if they would use the guy again......i am interested to see how this turns out........

I would seriously not take that...I'm sorry but that looks like something I did to a model when I was 8..and for the money paid, thats really bad. Anyhow, the design it nice, but not the way those colors were put down!

  25. There was a written agreement that stated the car to be done in 6 months. He's not a painter by trade no,he is a licensed mechanic. He knew how important this car was to my brother....But I really dont want to get into it any longer.Like I said I have known this guy since 89 as one of my customers and one of the guys that hung out at my car shows. It upsets me to see this happenening.I am disappointed, but its not my car either, its my brother and they made the agreements. Its like someone said, you cant get a show job for taat price, but he could have taken more pride in the job, there is no excuse for that. And especially as a friend whom I've done numerous amounts of favors for in the past.I guess whats going on now, is he still has my brothers T bucket and he wants $400 for body work on that, just needs some body work in which he does ok,so he cant ruin that..??I hope..??..so they will just call it even and my brother will re do the T Bird...My brother has started a small business mainly restoring classic Mustangs and he has a few guys he hires from the local ROP body shop class to do the body work/Paint and they do great work to!!So it will all work out one way or another..It aint worth getting nasty over..he knows he did wrong...and that he wont get any business from either of us from now on...oh well...
This is getting to Dramatic....So I will save the Drama for my Mama!! hahaha!! I like that one... [IMG] [IMG]

  27. Oh, I get it now... your brother is a large black man who is very unhappy with the $2800 3rd grade school finger painting project done on his T-bird. But you're getting uncomfortable with all this talk about how he's pissed and....uh-oh, I think I lost track! Damn, I always lose track at about this point....

  28. Oh wait heres more to make you sick....

this story is so convoluted that it's scary. Someone actually paid a non-painter up front to paint a car? I'm more confused than Rocky!
