Someone cut a hole in the fence where I keep my cars and cut the radiator out of my "was running OK" 1965 Buick Electra 225. Not only did this sack of shit steal my radiator but apparently after unscrewing one of the oil cooler lines was too lazy to remove the other one and cut it off with some pliers.

Oh why is not perfectly legal to hide out there until he comes back for more and unload one 40 round clip into his lowlife hide and then flip it over and unload the other 40? It really, really should be. I should also be allowed to chop off his head and stick it on a pike Conan style next to the fence to ward off other scum.

As always the local law enforcement was about as useful as a spoon when you're eating steak. I should feel lucky they didn't write me a ticket for having an expired inspection sticker when they came out to write the report.

    Arrrhg!!!!

Sorry for the rant but I feel better now.

  2. that sucks .. but is it against the law to electrify your fence or car??
    i always prefured castration ..

It sucks you can't boobytrap your yard or anything...maybe motion lights, lots of them...I'd love to be able to use snares or spiked planks...

  5. a motion camera like on the wild life shows instant photo of the cunts.

  6. Trust me I know your rage.

I happened to catch a few and scare the living shit out of them, and word got around that I was crazy.. that cut down on theft from my wrecking yard almost instantly.

that said, I simultaneously removed all temptations. All radiators, aluminum rims, batteries, battery cables were removed from all cars and sold to scrap daily if necessary.
It went so far that all late model cars 80's on up were scrapped immediately to prevent theft.

They can't steal it if its not there. For all of you that have cars in storage, especially old cars, take out the radiator. that can be up to 60-100 dollars scrapped out.
And way more $$ to replace.
there is not alot more on pre-70's cars that they want.
Eliminate the temptation. DO NOT lock up the hood if your car is not stored where you are. They will just fuck up the grill and hood trying to open it.

It sucks that this is the world we live in, but the best learn to adapt.
The best of the good and the best of the bad.

A hunting camera won't do squat if you don't get a clear picture of the idiot's face...I like the electrified wire on the car idea...or an electric fence inside your fence...hehehe

That sucks dude. A few weeks ago I saw someone walking on an irrigation ditch behind my shop with a large pair of wire cutters. (they use the cutters to steal copper wire) I went inside and got my .410 shotgun and approached the guy, I asked him what he was doing, and he said he was just walking by. I informed him that I knew he was up to no good, and that if I ever saw him near my yard again that the gun would be smoking. I then took a picture of him with my camera phone and told him that I was calling the cops, he started running, and I called the cops. About 15 minutes later the cops showed up and started questioning me. Apparently the guy called them himself and told them that there was a crazy shotgun waving guy at my address. The cops asked him for his address, and after talking to me, they showed up and found a few hundred pounds of stolen copper. What a scumbag.

Radiators are worth lots to the scrap guy.

I had mine leaning against the side wall of my garage, with a bucket, a garden hose, and wrench on top of it. My 53 was sitting right there too. Duh, do ya think maybe I need that? Luckily, all my neighbours know and like me. I asked a lady a few doors down if she'd seen the junk guy come by and which colour the truck was. I found the guy 10 blocks away salvaging a lamp and asked for my radiator.

    He gave it to me.

I know the same frustration. We had some one steal the radiator out of our 51 F1 in front of the shop. We leave all the cars out side that are parts cars or cheaper non running cars unlocked. I would rather some one dig through it and find nothing than wake up to a few irreplaceable windows.

  14. my friend's house was recently broken into, he responded by screwing razors all along the edge of the fence they climbed to get in in case they came back for the stuff they left the first time. the razors are nicely rusted now....

You nailed it. That is the sickening thing about all of this. Last year, a bunch of low lifes stold all the cooper refrigerant lines from a local Gleeners food bank ruining 10s of thousands of dollars of food for what was reported to be worth a couple hundred dollars at a scrap yard.

If they would work as hard at getting a job as they do hurting the ones who are working we wouldn't have a problem.

  16. Funny you mention this, I just picked up a 1965 Buick Electra 225 radiator that was sitting in a junker in some guys back yard..............

Yeah, but really frusterating if you don't get their face. I have a real nice photo of some asshole stealing my deer stand. Got him clean, but from the waist down.

Framed it and hung it on the wall. Some people like fancy artwork, but frankly, the cost of the deer stand was worth the picture I did get.

Someone stole the copper lines for the air conditioning on the side of the shop. Scrap scroungers pull on our private property all the time looking through stuff. They get kicked off in a hurry.

As far as scrap radiators. I am a project engineer for a company called Pillar Induction. We build heating and melting equipment. Last year I was in a foundry that had a warehouse that was about 30,000 sq. ft. piled to the ceilings with radiators. They had a large compactor to compact them to fit into the melting furnaces. Was pretty wild to see.

If you are going to do the trail camera route. I recommend using the IR type cameras. No flash. If the flash goes off on the other ones your trail camera will most likely be gone too!

You are in Texas dude. Check out the Homestead laws. They changed not to long ago. If you catch someone on you property you now have the right to shoot them, hit them with a big stick or what ever. The laws were changed for the better and in the home owners favor no to long ago!!

  22. Any time you have some thing some low life will mess with it .Lot of times indivuals will pretend to be customers when all there doing is casing the place they come back later. That is why lots of old guys like me become so jaded and wont even let you look in there yards. I have gotten to the point where if there are more than two people or you bring your kids or dogs and you dont have anything specfic in mind. and when i ask are you prepared to buy today do you have any money. and they ar not they reply were just looking. Well guess what look somewhere else. We dont let them get past the gate. I know we have lost business because of our additude but a bunch of no goods have ruined things for lots of others. We had a BUNCH of radiators stolen from the cars at the shop. They were taking them to a recycling place a few blocks away. The dirt bags at the recycling center didn't seem to care that some transients w/o a car had a whole mess of cores. Then we stopped a couple of guys pushing a brand new residential condensing unit and a 150 foot roll of m/c cable going to the same place. The cops wouldn't arrest them because they couldn't prove the "scrap" metal was stolen. I'd get a tenacious dog that likes to protect the fence line.

Yeah frigen thieves suck, that dirtbag probably took it to a local recycler and got some crack money out of it....around here they been using a cordless sawzall and stealing peoples cadilatic converters, some of the converters fetch upwards of a hundred bucks but the poor sap that it was stolen from is looking at $600 or more to replace it....These guys are doing this in the middle of the day at grocery stores, malls and even on the streets, most people driving by think they are working on thier car and here they are cutting the converters off in a matter of seconds...They busted a guy and woman a few weeks ago a couple blocks away from me with a pick up full of converters....

A person can't have anything any more without fear that some dirt bag will steal it and if they can't get it they will destroy the item or part just so you can't have it....

I wish they would bring back the laws and punishments of the 1800's, gauranteed the crime rate would take a quick decline......stealing and out to the nearest tree you go, rape, abuse ect and behind a horse and a dirt road you go for a few miles....

All these scum bag lawyers and our courts have stretched the original laws so far out of shape over the years that criminals don't fear the law any more since they know they can beat the rap and be back on the street in a short while..........

The worst part of it all is if you booby trap your property or even if the dirtbags get hurt on your property while ripping you off they can come back and sue you, if they guy that stole your radiator would have slit his arm open on a hose clamp, with the right lawyer he'd had YOU in court sueing for thousands.......How WRONG is that!!!!!!!!!

Ok I vented enough........ Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully you can locate another soon cheap...

Sorry for your loss...I imagine El Paso is hell with this type of theft.

Maybe I should do this as a tech thread...hmm...

Security cameras, wireless are $120 at Sams, 2 camera system. However, another recommendation and one that I'm installing in my shop right now is a blaring siren set off by infrared photo eyes that will also turn on the lights. This is really a simple control situation powered either by 12v or 120v. For those outside, just raise the eyes above most animals backs.

Remember they need a body. Just kidding.

I have something that works great. Mix bluing and antiseize together a put it were you know they will get into it. Worked for the people That were messing with my harley this summer. Told the police what I did and that my one neighbor had blue marks all over his face. I finally got the asshat. And I did not get in trouble.

We use to use it in the fire dept. We put it on the under side of the handles of the fire street boxes were we were having problem with false alarms. It was to catch the people that were pulling false alarms. They would get it every were even on the interior of there car.

Just remember were you put it so you do not get in it. It is hard to get off.

The best part is a night they do not know they have it on there hands and people always touch there face.
