  1. ...locally here, scrap recycling businesses need your photo ID on file before you can bring any scrap in to recycle; that's a good thing, should weed out some of the bad guys.

That's great you helped some of these shitheads. Even better since you nearby. I hope he gets something bad for it.

My lot does not have electricity (it's just to store my cars) so wiring up the fence isn't a possiblity. If cameras are battery operated that might be a possiblity.

I'm going out there today to remove the radiator from my large truck that doesn't run and take the generator off the Buick. This weekend I guess I'll have to go back to paying storage for my other running truck and my trailers.

I'm not sure about shooting people guys. The way I understand these laws is that if you shoot an unarmed man they charge you with using excessive force and manslaughter. It has to be in self defense and I'm pretty sure you can shoot people who come inside your house but I don't think I can get away with camping out and shooting these guys. I'm a lousy liar and couldn't BS my way in court saying they were threating me (besides, what's my explaintion for hiding in the dark with an AK-47?). I have to say, if you do shoot someone make sure you kill them so they can't hire a lawyer and tell their side of the story.

I think that sucks and you should be allowed to shoot people who tresspass (when I was a kid, they sold metal signs that said "Trespassers will be shot") but I don't think it's worth a radiator to go to jail.

Like it or not, we property owners are screwed these days. Everyone is out to steal your assets, from outright thieves to your own bank. Maybe that's why I like old stuff, it reminds me of when the world was a little nicer and more people did the right thing.

I see you live in Texas, as do I. FYI, we are a 'castle' state. This means you may use any force..including deadly...to protect your life, property and wealth. It was enacted two years ago with Gov. Perry's signature. It replaced the domicile haven law that said you had to be under threat of death or severe bodily harm to defend yourself. The final wording of the law also says that you have the absolute right to 'stand your ground' on your property to defend same..use to be you could not use force unless you were cornered.
I certainly don't recommend killing some crackhead for boosting car parts (blood takes too long to clean up and God only knows what disease the scumbag has) but a solid ass whuppin' would do a world of good!

  5. if you catch them beat the filthy animals with a large stick..

  6. i have have multiple run-ins with tweaker shitbag thieves and have had the pleasure of running over one with my jeep at 4 in the morning. the only time i got close to having a legal problem was when a firearm was discharged! if at the time you feel a threat to your safety, even the smallest one you do have every right to defend yourself. i confronted a shitbag after he had ripped a radiator from a 36' plymouth and fucking destroyed the grille and proceeded to do some very poor "oral surgery" on the shitbag with the shotgun butt. even though shooting someone sounds good the long term relations with local cops becomes poor, but just shooting "at" someone is a real rush knowing the basterd is scared shitless! one thing is i will not "kill" someone for stealing my shit but i will leave a mark on your person.

I recently bought 40 acres of hunting land. The previous owner had told me he knew it was being hunted without permission. I posted it, and set up trail cams. Within a week I had a couple of good pictures of a guy in full camo carrying a bow. I started sharing the pictures and asking if anyone knew the guy. About a week later I got a call from the trespasser saying he heard I was showing his picture around town. I informed him that he was trespassing and that he should not be seen on my property again without permission. While a camera may not get a court conviction it still may get an ID for a back alley beating. If nothing else, the flash will let the thief know you have a picture and may prevent continued thefts. Word spreads when you post a picture on every light and phone pole asking if anyone has seen this theif, and a number to call.

Fiat, most fence chargers are battery powered or I think I've seen solar powered ones. Last summer in Oklahoma City some slime stole the condensers out of the A/C units at a nursing home leaving the old folks to sweat in the august heat until the units could be repaired.

Yes , look up the "castle" doc. YOU can protect your self and your property, including your car. as long as you dont have a felony.

I'll have to look into this new Texas law to understand what my rights are as a landowner.

I do plan on going out there and putting up a target and putting two nice groups, one through the chest and one through the head which I'll just leave next to the gate. Probably won't work but at least they'll know I'm watching.

41woodie, were do you buy these fence electrifiers? I might try this with a 50,000 volt sign to make them think they are lucky to walk away. If it's solar that's probably going to work for me.

My other thought was to have a big sign made up with pictures of my vehicles and a notice to the neighbors that if they see any others or pedestrians to call the cops.

my buddy works for the phone company, they are stealing the phone lines right off the poles. ther is one are where he has gone several times to the same spot to replace the cables.

cops don't give a shit. they have to catch them on the ladder and cutters in thier hand. walking down the street with a shopping cart full of wire next to where the wire was stolen is not good enough.

one thing. most are illegals or tweakers... the odds of them calling the cops if you smack them with a bat are slim

I just can't imagine going to jail for stealing scrap metal! If you are going to be a theif, why not steal a Mercedes or something that is insured...so the sucker you stole from doesn't get hurt too badly? Then at least WHEN you get caught and you're in jail maybe it would seem worth it. I can just imagine a cell-mate asking "whatcha in for?" and having to answer "swiping scrap metal".

You could drop the motion sensor in your car and set it up to call your cell phone and house phone. These are great. I set motions and door alarms throught my house, barn and detatched garage. Sometimes when I open the barn, my phone will go off and it tells me that an intuder entered!!! OOooops I forgot to turn it off again!!! It also comes with a couple key fobs so you can turn it on when you go bed if you forgot to turn it back on. I have it call my cell, and if I dont answer it will then call up to 4 other phone #s till someone answers. Its all wireless and will really put a serprise on someones face when they didnt hear a thing and you are standing there with a gun pointed at the person!! You can either set up for just alarm, just phone or both. The directions that come with it are in Chinglish( my own made up word) but it says that you will receive a newer easier to follow manual. They will email a PDF to you. Also we have a couple driveway patrol sensors. These also work great. And they are cheap. Only thing is, you have to be home to hear them.

After having gas stolen out of one of my vehicles, someone mysteriously mounted a utility knife blade to the fuel filler door.
The vehicle was in an isolated place and inaccessible to children, small domesticated animals or the innocent unnamed.
The telltale drops indicated the new "welcome device" had been located and the problem was solved.
Those wacky theft-deterrent fairies and their schemes....

This fall I noticed crushed bushes and footprints where someone had been hopping my 6' backyard fence repeatedly. I pounded a bunch of old glazing points into the top of the fence in the spots they were hopping it. Figure if anyone complains I just did it to detere the cats that were killing the birds in my yard:rolleyes:. I've noticed some crushed points, but no fresh footprints. I guess they got the point!

I've got a recycling yard 100 yards from my house. I always make sure my aluminum canoe is chained down.

Tweaker AKA Meth Head. 55Dude posted it a while back when he caught some thieves and I didn't know what they were. There is a reason for the name but I don't know what it is off the top of my head. They tweak something!
