I have come accross a totaled 97 Dakota pickup for a great price. There was a lot of money put into the motor. It has a 318 in it with an overdrive trans. I want to put as much of the drivetrain as I can in my 52 Plymouth Cranbrook. Do you guys have any suggestions that might help me along the way?
I wish I was in your shoes on that deal. Go for it. I want to do the same thing to my '53 Plymouth wagon. KNUX!
Is it a stick or auto trans? If it's auto be careful they had a lot of trouble around then. Also how much computer stuff will you have to deal with, efi,trans,....? It would be all Mopar and it would be a hell of a driver! Good luck!
Mike I think El Polako, Industrial Ch***is, makes a front crossmember that uses Dakota suspension parts. If you are going to redo front suspension on your car and the control arms etc are good you might talk to Steve.
Mike, if you do it let us know how things are going. I would like to put a 318 motor in my Dodge Meadowbrook.
I have no idea why you would even consider doing that. Those Mopar frames are tough as it is. My '51 Plymouth has a 4x6" factory boxed frame thats way stronger than an S-10 frame. If it's disc brakes, look up Scarebird on here. If it's dropped spindles, go to FatMan Fabrications. If it's an updated rear end, look to early Mopar C bodies or even Jeep Cherokees. If it's a 350 you want, well, heaven help you.
