Took a break from the 55 wagon and finally got some epoxy primer on the Vette tonight. It sure does make all the pin holes in the f/g show up. Couldn't see many before the paint went on.
It's House of Kolor Epoxy primer. A buddy of mine liked it too, painted a Camaro with it and drove it that way for about two years!
When I restored my 54 I used Fiberfil. Filled all the cracks and imperfections and was smooth as a baby but. Sanded real nice and paint was super smooth. I guess they still make it. That was in the late 70's
Progress pics of my 55 Chevy Wagon can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/11727936@N02/sets/. Just finished the roof on Jan. 31. Eight solid days, about 100hrs., plus material. It ain't cheap Skippy. 1000 grit wet/dry, plus water, plus wagon roof acreage equals BLOODY FINGERS!!! And, just getting my shoulder out of traction Mmmmmm, love vicodin! Enjoy. Piece out.
It will be a frame on, the rear frame rails needed repair and the rear crossmember replaced, and the f/g had some stress cracks to repair (I itch just thinking about it....). It's getting a Kandy apple red paint job, unless the owner changes his mind a third time (no, it's not mine) 95% of the chrome was replated at about 8K. (ouch) The conv top is the tan color, the interior accent color (and trunk) will be the factory Shoreline Beige. The engine had already been rebuilt and detailed before I got it, so it will need another detailing when done. And supposedly he already has a set of Keylsey Hayes wires for it.
