So I was sweating getting my car registered. It was brought to the States from England in 1983 and nothing was done to it until I bought it in 2002. The car itself has a home-made aluminum body and the ch***is was damaged and repaired where the number is normally found. My build is just about complete so I needed to get something done so I could test it on the streets. I did have an unsigned English ***le and a bill of sale from the guy I bought it from up in Connecticut. Several years ago I found a body tag on Ebay (missing on my car) that gave a ch***is number and engine number...I wanted to use it but naturally the numbers on it didn't match the bill of sale (or the English ***le)...oh well, carried it down to the DMV with all the other papers. Handed everything to the lady at the counter, told her I'd found the body tag in the parts that had come with the car and wanted to use the numbers on it if I could. She looked at the bill of sale, got out her white-out, changed the number to match the plate, handed me back the English ***le and said we don't need this...took my $53 for the one-time registration and antique plates and told me I could use the paperwork to drive the car until the plates arrived. I was in and out in about 15 minutes...life in south Mississippi is great!
Kansas is that easy. The DMV is like a cheap ***** just give them money and they will do what you ask.
