I recently got a pretty good deal (I think) on a running 342 olds rocket. It came out of a early ford truck and has a ford 3 speed bolted to it with some sorta adapter plate. I am new to the whole oldsmobile thing but figured for 250 bucks I could not go wrong It purrs like a kitten. I have been looking on the net for speed equipment and pictures of what these motors looked like origonal. I think it was green and i have seen them trimed out in gold. I would like to dress it up a little. any sugestions ect. would be helpful
[ QUOTE ] 342 olds rocket [/ QUOTE ] must be a rare one,i have a 324 myself lots of nifty go-fast stuff still out there.if it's as good as you say then you should probably leave it alone for the most part, maybe a cool intake (look for edelbrock OL396 for a 3x2,usually $100-125,and some holley 94 carbs $20-30 apiece),some home-made headers ( nobody makes headers,or flanges, for rockets, strictly DIY unless you wanna shell out $900 or more ) and possibly a reground cam ($50-100 depending on who you're talking to) also, don't apply too much paint on the exhaust side of the head or it'll burn off-george
If down the road your looking for an intake let me know. i have 2x2 or 3x2 or last but not least 4x4.just pm me. whats it going in?.
