Well, after trying to find a new frame for my 47 to no avail (anything close anyway) i am wondering what other options are out there. My plan was to find another frame and use a No limit Engineering Air Glide IFS and then c-notch the rear end while still driving my car around on its current ch***is. Does anybody have experience swapping frames for a46-48 ford (not just front clip)? What would be a good candidate? It is 114" wheelbase car and i dont want the front tires to sit to far back in the fenders like so many do after a new clip.
I actually have detailed plans that Iwas given quite some time ago that uses a 60's type Chevelle frame with not much modification. I will look for it and see about getting you a copy.
I have seen a lot of these on '68 to '72 GM A body frames (Chevelles ect.) A friend did a '48 convertible on a '69 Chevelle. The guy that I sold my '47 coupe to many years ago stripped the rusty body off of his 1968 Olds 442 and put the coupe on it. I used to see the car around Ft. Wayne but haven't seen it in years. The A body frame needs to be lengthened but other than that it's not too big of a deal and you already have modern suspension. Tom
I saw a black 48 ford on an S-10 frame at K- Zoo a few years ago. sitin low, looked great .If I didn't read the info card in the windshield I would never known it was on an S-10 frame.
