ugh! time to put 302 in 53, does not want to fit due to front oil sump-pan, believe pan and engine are out of 70s mustang. Any help out there would be very appreciated
You'd have to look into it, but I've always heard that the oil pan/pickup from an early Bronco is what you need to fit one into a shoebox.
doing same on my 50 ford convertable just bought bronco reverse pan and pump from ford. drops right into my car. 250.00 from ford or find old bronco.
my 302 has a rear sump oil pan .the motor came out of a mid 80s van..the first 302 came out a mustang.it also had a rear sump.the crossmemeber was cut out when the flathead came out.not a pretty job.before i put the new motor in i boxed the crossmember in. also had to cut a hole for the oil filter ...
There ya go, late 80's, early 90's mustang 302 pan. I used one in my 53 f100 and welded in a drain back tube to allow use of only the rear drain plug. It has two, one in each sump. but it fits as good as Bronco pan.
Vehicles withe rear sump pans (302) - Sorry, don't have years Bronco Mustang Fairmont LTD II Crown Victorias You need the longer main cap bolt and the pickup tube for the pan used.
Your local salvage yard guy should know about this..... or your local Ford parts man. Of course, used stuff is cheaper, but it isn't too expensive new from the dealer.
Bought a rear sump from Ford Racing, still has a bump in the front for the pump but has a rear oil pickup. about $250 I think. Check Ford Racing online site
Paul, What do the longer main cap bolts do? BTW here is the link for the swap kit from summit. http://store.summitracing.com/partd...-M-6675-A50&N=700+4294908331+115&autoview=sku
Theres a special bolt on the 302 rear sump that has a nut on it I believe. You mount the rear pickup tube on the nut thats on the main bolt. Or Im talking out of my ***
