There is a post about converting a 4door sedan into a 2 door. Do a search and it should come up. Be pretty similar. Just make the gl*** behind the front door fixed like a 150 wagon. Here ya go: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2429483#post2429483
There's one that runs around in Florida...the guy turned it into a sedan delivery. I don't know the exact work he did regarding the rear doors, but he retained the 4-door front doors. Now normally this would look stupid, because the front doors are shorter on a 4 door than they are on a 2-door. However, he deleted the vent windows, which made the window opening longer, retaining the proportions. I'd seen the car when it was a 4 door, and then saw it after the conversion. I knew the proportions looked right, and knew he retained the 4-door front doors (there's a "nick" in them at the B-pillar that gave them away) but couldn't figure out why the proportions were good. I saw the car half a dozen times before I realized the vent windows were missing, and that's why the proportions were right. At that point, I imagine it was all a matter of "simply" erasing the rear doors for the sedan delivery conversion. I think it was the Cruise News company hauler. -Brad
A guy that lived here changed a 55 4 door wagon into a 2 door. He made it short and kept the short front doors. I always dug it. But this was a long time ago and there were a lot more around. Now a days I'd tend to leave it a 4 door. But on the other had that short little wagon was cool as hell. It had big n little Cragars, a 327, M-22, and a 12 bolt 3.73 out of a Nova. It would pull the wheels easy. I loved it.
IMO, I'd leave it a 4 door. Nothin wrong with a four door wagon. Please don't turn it into a shorty. Todd
Leave it a four door and slam a big block under the hood 5 speed ****** and a posi rear. Finish it off Canary yellow with a black top. Yeah thats it.
The Prom Queen is a BEAUTIFUL example of just how ***y a 4 door wagon can be. That's why she's been dubbed the Prom Queen duh. If you want a 2 door wagon ala Nomad or Handyman, then buy one. Otherwise, don't destroy a potentially beautiful car. There's a shortened 4 door here in town, painted in lilac. Its not the color choice that makes the car look like vomit.
I like a 4 door wagon better than a 2 door, the 2 door is o.k. if thats what you have but to me they are less interesting and less conveinient.
Build what you want! And yes, there have been some threads on converting a 4-dr into a 2-dr. One guy even welded parts of two doors together to create longer front doors, and moved the B-pillar back. Looks very doable to me.
Way too much work for so little return. Go get a 2-door if you gotta have one. I can see the reasoning with a sedan, no way on a wagon.
