Got a Comet need header help!!!!

Ok so I bought a 65 Comet Off gasser55 here on the hamb. Now I need to know if mustang header will work.The only headers that I can find that fit it specific is 480.00 hooker super comps. Any body else know some that will fit.In about the 200.00 range.THANKS JOHN P/S I know I should know more running a exhaust shop But the suppliers counter guy dont know. I guess cause it aint no honda

 

not trying to be a smart ass, but looking at your signature, shouldn't you be able to fab a set to suite your needs?

 

Hedman lists Falcon, Fairlane, and Mustang part numbers that will probably work.

 

I have been told that 65 Fairlane or Mustang will fit. I looked under the hood of a 65 Mustang and everything looked the same as the Comet. I know that the front sub frame parts are the same as the Comet. I have a 65 convert in pieces for a rebuild, and a 67 big block convert, and it is a major pain in the butt to find some parts. The hardest thing to find is the trim and body parts.

The 62-65 Fairlanes are unique. Not sure if that rolls over to Comets but probably so. The Hooker 6134 will fit direct on the Fairlanes but are pricey. If you remove the shock towers then the others may work. Also Dougs makes a direct fit ( again pricey )

 

The Falcons of that model year, 64/5 are a direct fit to the Comets.

 

Yes but dont have the time.Tryiny to make it to the Rod and culture dragfest on may 3/4. I think im just going to bite the bullet and buy the super comps.But the car will get a crites kit in its future and didnt want to throw away that much money.Keep the ideas coming.Falcons are the same and have the same problems.Mustangs have a ton available I just need to measure to see the differances,THANKS JOHN

 

well just a researched guess, but hooker has different part numbers for the super comp headers for the mustang and the falcon So I would guess they wouldn't make 2 different parts if the same one would fit both. I did notice that summit list shorty headers for the falcon that might get you by until you build some. $150 from hedman.

 

As someone already posted. The 64 & 65 Falcons are the same as 64 & 65 Comets. Mustangs are a little different in how the engine sets in relation the the chassis, similar but not the same.

 

falcon headers will do you in, you can make the mustangs work but you have to smash the drivesr side collertor in and it looks like shit, all the site youll fit they sell them to fit mustang falcon comet and fairlane but the platform runs falcon, comet, maverick. the mustang and fairlane share the same headers tho. -goodluck
