Ok I've got a '29 Model A Sedan and am totally loving the look that Rolling Bones has done on a couple of the 30/31 Model A's. The highboy with the 32 frame. I'd like to do that to mine but not sure what it'll look like with the '29 grill. Switch to '32 grill or would it just look out of place? Anyone have one? Done one? picture of one?

I'd say "do it". The 29 grille would be unique in today's world, but that combo was more common years ago.

If you plan to scallop the car, paint the grille to match the front color, & it'd look bitchin!

These pics aren't too good and it's a sport coupe but it's sorta that style. Should have some done pics in about 2 weeks.

  5. I am building a 29 on Duece rails. Plan on using the A grill, a favorite grill of mine. No pics yet.

    Clark,
Did you fab the frame? If not where did you get it?
    Looks pretty good.

I built the frame. Made the frame follow the cowl and hood perfectly. It took 4 or 5 cuts to get the frame to flow with the cowl.

I hope to have the car done in two weeks. I'll have some real good pics of the whole car and complete painted frame by then.

The sedan in that photo is a '32...

There is a feature on that car in an earlier Street Rodder, and the newest Street Rodder has an article on another one they built for Mike Mano. Both magazines are worth picking up.

    Oh. I see.......The "A" grill.........not the "other A" grill. ?????

Thanks Zombie. I've got a number of articles on that car. It's so damn nice. I just don't think the stock '29 would look near as nice. Nice but not nearly as aggressive in my books.

Scratchy, you are mixed up. The sedan in your top pic is not an A, and most (all?) of the Rolling Bones cars are 32's. Model A ran from 28-9 and 30-1. 32's are not called A's.

  17. And the grilles are different on 28/9 vs 30/1 I prefer the 28/9 grille.

    Pendejo...

When is an 'A' grill, not an 'A' grill?.... When it's a 32.

Love it! Someday I will have an "A" Sedan on '32 rails... someday.

Dude, Stu's is the perfect(?) example of why an early A grille looks great on an A/32 combo!

Love the way Stu's sits too, awesome-ness....

'28-9 grille = 1 (oh yeah, me likey)
    '32 grille = 2 (it's alright)
    '30-1 grille = 3 (boo hiss)

I know you asked for 29s on 32 rails and mine is not on 32 rails but it does have the 29 A shell that some have talked about. I thought you might like to see it for another example.

I will for sure in coming years rebuild this car on 32 rails. I cannot decide if I will then keep the A shell or switch to a 32 shell.

A shells and A headlights work so well together since they are both flat faced.

See if you can find anything on Vic Kitcheners" "29 Mercury". 18" Halibrands, chopped and perfect. Often at El Mirage or Bonneville...

  26. Is that the light blue one? We had a good thread on that car here a couple years back..............

Dang Tracy, it would be hard to take that car apart. It's just right the way it is. But I understand, they never are really done, are they?
