Got these steel bubble skirts from a good friend of mine. He says they are the real deal Barris skirts from the '50's. I taped them to the side of the car to get a visual. I like them alot.

Do you think they compliment the car well?

Will they tuck behind the bumper nicely?

They will need to be modified with a recess or extend the bumper around. Not sure yet. Just a quick mock up.

    Thanks,

I dislike skirts on most cars, and this is no exception. I vote 'leave em off'

Nice chop, real nice. Those are ugly cars to start with and that chop turned it around. I dig skirts, but not those. I'd role with flush mounted factory skirts or shoebox skirts.

Id get some of those Shoebox skirts that look like 51 Merc skirts, but shorter. Bubble skirts are kinda rough on the eyes, unless they're made to fit a perticular car. The shape is everything, and how it lines up the body lines of the car. The front of those skirts don't flow with the front of the fenders. See your first pic.

Those skirts just don't flow, I say find some that will. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Sounds pretty unanimus. I respect the opinions here. Apparently I don't have the eye that you guys do. Not going to use them. Thank you.

Personally I don't like skirts on those cars at all because the fenders are just to flat and big. But thats just me.

  24. Hey BK.... I like the side view. Go with skirts, but not those. Flush ones will be the beez kneez!

Skirts ar OK if they fit and are the right shape.
    Those do neither, yet.

They look like they are made for a mid '50's Ford, not a turn of the decade Mopar.

    But,
they might be "adjusted" if there is enough material to trim the perimiter to be a smaller version of that rear fender line, following the cant of the front edge instead of being straight verticle and trimed to repeat the curve of the rear of the fender too.
That would probably tuck them under or just in front of the bumper.

i dont have a problem with skirts,,but maybe i am wrong, but i dont think Barris (Sam or George would have run those,,im sure in a few miuntes some one will post a pic proving me wrong though:))

that guy was probably just reminicing...:)

i agree with others said though,,some nice flush fitted skirts would work...

i agree with SlowanLo63, those skirts don't do it, get some flush skirts or shoebox style, i like skirts have two sets on my 49 Ford , Merc Cut Down (rare) and the steel flared, and stockers oops @ three set. find some stock skirts for it. try ebay search , skirts, Foxcraft, etc. always alot for sale on ebay. be careful on buying look'em over really well ! car looks great!
