    Hello everyone,

We are happy to announce that the VLV/Shifters car show is coming along very well. People are now registering cars daily. So far the Car show is 3/4 full so if you plan on attending make sure to go online ,purchase your wristbands, then register your car soon.
We have now made a huge emphasis on bringing the car show back with quality instead of Just quantity. For the record, this in no way means that we are only allowing full on painted show cars,we just want cars to be as traditional as possible - The way cars REALLY were in the good ol days. unfinished primered, bare metal, unuphostered cars are more than welcomed to attend. We are expecting over 1000 cars this year !

We want everyone to feel safe during your stay at the Gold Coast. The secured car show lot will close every evening and only people with wristbands will be allowed back inside. This will eliminate teenagers & people off the street loitering in the show area all night long. The show will then re open every morning to the general public.

The RIO & the Gold Coast rooms are booked solid. The Orleans just opened up 150 more rooms , and if you mention the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekender they will honor a discount on rooms.A free shuttle bus takes people to & from the Gold Coast & Orleans for free every 15 minutes.

DATES FOR VIVA LAS VEGAS IS APRIL 10TH - 13TH 2008

    Special guests this year.

Gene Winfield - with his newly built dry lakes/Bonneville Roadster.

Henry Winkler - Yes, the Fonze from Happy Days.

George Barris - havent decided what he's bringing.

Ernest McIntyre - with yet another famous Willys Gasser !

Davey Deuce - with his blown Caddy powered 40 Ford coupe

Live bands & Dj's will be returning !

The Giant TIKI will also be returning this year !

    And many other special guests!

SHIFTERS CAR SHOW RULES & INFO:

Car show is for Pre 1963 nostalgic Hot rods, traditional customs, and stock classic cars.
If you register your car as a pre 1963 it must arrive as a pre 1963. All 1963 and newer cars WILL be turned away at the gate and not allowed in. Absolutely no Volksrods, low riders, muscle cars, high tech , fiberglass, billet street rods allowed. No tubbed rear ends and/or cars with extra wide radial rear tires allowed. No mag wheels made after the 1960's. painted cars are more than welcome (and actually encouraged) so long as they are traditional and meet the criteria.

I get some of my favorite pictures from VLV, where else are you gonna hang out with a bunch of likeminded folks, with cars, till all hours of the night and not get busted for it!?!

  7. Axle,

Am currently kicking Lonely Knights in the butt to get them movin', need some Colorado Rods & Sleds on the road in April.

No Deuce this year ! Laura and I are gonna be there one way or another, am currently thrashin' to get the '40 Coupe roadworthy. Don't want to drive the wife's 2006 Liberty.

The changes sound great and good for the show. We always have a great time though cuz that's what we come for !

SEE YA IN SEVEN WEEKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Johnnie.

  12. My son Dustin (Von Dust) and I went to VLV for the first time in 2005. It had been on our list of shows to attend for several years. With the new changes this year, the show sounds like it will be better than ever. I wish we could go this year but spent too much on El Tiki's 2008 facelift/asslift to pull it off this year.
Dustin and Tom Culbertson are doing a complete overhaul/update on his Desoto so our big father and son outing in 2009 will be driving his Desoto to VLV.
I would wish you all well but I know the show is in capbale hands and with the changes implemented in 08 it is bound to be a show that should not be missed!!!

Man I'm sooooooo bummed. I made the last two VLV's but I can't go this year, had to spend $3400 on living room windows:eek: Glad the Shifters got everything straightened out and are clamping down on the rat rod/shock rod stuff. Looks like it's going to be really fun, you guys put on a great show. We'll definitely be back next year.

  14. Looking forward to it , good times, always great meeting new people from all over the world. Seeing old friends I have met over the many years of going. Sounds like all the " new rules" will help it get back to the roots or what it was all about, hot rods and good friends

    Cheers see ya all there

Yes, we're workin on the details. The Giant TIKI was getting to be a staple of the VLV car show , and it was missed last year. Its coming back and we wont lose it ever again :)

There was one for the Anti-Blessing, it said: The Fonz is going to let it all hang out, AYeeeee (well, something like that) It was pretty funny.

Its true - but I was thinking........... the show itself (during the day on Saturday) is allot of fun with great organization and quality cars and guests - its just the after hours garbage that has hurt it. Props to the shifters though - In my opinion, the whole VLV has become a success due to the car show alone...............

TRUST me guys. We are doing everything in our power to bring the show back to the way it use to be.

At nightfall only those with wristbands can go inside the car show area. This will eliminate the under 21 kids and street people loitering and drinking till wee hours of the night ! Also, Security and off duty LVPD will be on duty to make sure we can have all the fun we want , but also be safe as well.

As stated before the quality of cars WILL increase as well as quantity. Live bands are coming back, live DJ's, over 50 vendors, special guests,Our Giant TIKI,etc, etc. Its going to be good!
