Things are coming back together on my Panhead. I ain't postin' pictures yet (sorry K-Member), but here's my seat. Baseball glove leather and hand tooling. I'm diggin' the **** right out of it.
that's a big glove if your running a stock size pan solo seat, did you do the seat yourself?I'm all for seeing a picture of the bike as well.
Damn you *******s! Always wanting pictures of people's unfinished projects. Well, here's what I stared with. She's a 63 Pan w/ *gulp* 6100 original miles on her. Seized up back in the mid-60's and sat in the old codgers shop until the late 80's. Then the guy I bought her from mechanically restored her and didn't ride her much. She was peel painted white and used in the movie JFK as a police bike, which I could give a **** about...but I guess it's cool if that's your thing. Now you ain't getting pic.'s of where I'm at or where I'm heading...but I should be there w/ in a month or so. Regardless, I'm sure the purists will have a nervous God-damned breakdown. The good news is that I'm keeping all of the original parts and plan to restore her to showroom someday...just not right now. In the meantime, we're gonna' have us some fun. Scary, low-down fun And no, I didn't do the seat myself. I wish I knew how to do that ****...cuz' God knows it's not easy to even find anyone to do hand tooling anymore. As far as the size of the seat and the size of that baseball glove: Good point. I trimmed the seat pan's perimeter by 1.5 inches.
Nice seat. As for the purists, I know what you mean. I did a "bob job" on a stock '57 pan and took alot of **** from my purist friends. Screw 'em, they got over it and eventually saw the light. Good to save your stock parts, like you said. Don't forget to post pics of the project. By the way, check out the pics =mike= posted from Paso. There were two green pan choppers that were nothing short of perfect!
