I just picked up this front axle with spindles, backing plates and drums, for my 35 Ford p/u and need help ID'ing it. I know I've seen a similar set-up in some of my magazines, but I can't find anything?????????

The shape of the axle and the brake drums look like mid '30s MoPar, but the spring is wrong. has it been modified from two parallel leaf springs. Need less snow and some dimensions to be sure.

It is definitly mopar or ford, i am leaning more towards ford cause of the breaks but the curvy axle resembles mopar, I also would say it is closer to 1960 or a lil earlier and it was definitly a parallel set up switched to transverse.

Looks to be either '48~'52 F~1 or '53~'56 F~100 ford truck that has been modified to fit in a '40s for ch***is.

But maybe easier to I/D if you would un~bury it from the snow & take a real pic of it.

I change my answer and agree with DE SOTO. At first look I thought the axle was tubular, sorry.

Sorry about the pic........ Its the only one I had of it before I bought it online - its now being shipped. It does look to be a parallel thats been converted to transverse, but the snow and dirt don't help. It was under a 29 rpu built >30yrs ago - thats all I know.
