Does anyone have any idea what "16 inch narrow" wheels are? Or what car they came on? They are wire wheels and in a stack of wheels that I saw this morning. I know that the 1940 wheels were "narrow" or 3.5 inches (I think), but not sure on the wire wheels.

    Thanks,

I thought they were all narrow. How much for all of them? I'd buy them.

This place was amazing to say the least........and local.....heck, I have been trying to find 18's and he had STACKS of them and TONS of early Ford parts stacked and labeled........It made me think of what "Tardel's" would be like if I ever visit.

Just because an old wheel has a chalk description on it doesn't mean it's true. 16"X4" with 5x5-1/2" bolt pattern would be '35 Ford only

    "Narrow" is relative.

How wide were they? They could just be 16"x4" '35 wires (which would still be a good thing).

1940 Ford's with V-8/60's had 3" or 3.5" x16 wheels up front from the info that i've been given...
Once saw 2 pair at Pomona Fathers Day swap disappear before the first rim touched the ground...i was with tape measure in hand 5 feet away and got Sniped!! Not fast enough...Oh well...

There are also wheels for tailers that are narrow. I had an only utility trailer
that had a wonderful set of wire wheels made to go Ford hubs. Guess you could use the pick-ups spare if you needed one on the trailer that way

I can see Bobby Green running from the room as we speak! :)

Just as a point of reference...The 16 X 4 wires were an option all the way up to '38. The brakes, i.e. drums, backing plates, etc. were '35 units factory installed.

Budd and Kelsey both made bent spoke wheels for Ford as well as straight spokes. The true Kelsey Hayes wheels had adjustable bent spokes.

  11. I don't believe there were any wire wheel offered for the wide five bolt circle used on 36-38(39) youngster.

Kelsey Hayes also made stock welded straight spoke wheels for Ford production lines which were stamped with a "KH" or "K-H". They are nothing more than stock Ford production line wheels not the desireable accessory welded bent-spoke wheels of legend.

K-H also made adjustable spoke wheels for Cords, Auburns and many other makes, some of which used the "Ford" bolt pattern of 5 on a 5 1/2" circle but most won't accept Ford hubcaps without a spacer ring.

  15. I wasn't aware of that as an option - live and learn.
