I have a straight axle out of a 1955 chevy truck that I am trying to put disc brakes on, I have tried a couple of rotors but the spindle hits the rotors braking surface. Is there an adapter or something I need to get the rotor to work on there with my caliper adapter?

    Five-lug or six-lug?

The five-lug kits usually have a stepped sleeve that that goes on the spindle, and provides a surface for the seal and for the bearing race. It stops the disk from going too far onto the spindle.

The six-lug kits use the original hub and the problem would most likely be with your bracket.
