~ I started removing the stock spring today and forgot to put the C-clamps on the leaves. SO, went the popped that center nut on the location stud..BAM! The nut flew out so hard I thought it broke my finger. One leaf took a chunk out of my palm, luckily my left hand and one leaf knocked my knit hat right of my head, that one was close. Two leafs were laying across my chest...Then I look up and see one of my knee action shocks broken at the mount tab. That must of happen a while ago. judging from the light rust on the break. Work was halt because i need new pins (shackle bolts) the threads are toast. I work all week end So I'll pick some up Monday and try to install the new spring. That's it for now.

damn, glad you are ok! I was cutting bolts last night with a bolt cutter and every so often one would shoot off like a bullet. One hit me right smack on the safety gl***es. If I did not have them on I would more then likely been at the hospital as it chipped the safety gl***!

Hey Sean, Funny you should mention that, the Lady up the street who's Duck I killed (accidentally) with the Drake Hub cap was walking down the street and asked what I was doing? I told her what had just happen and she saw I was bleeding, and She says "Well, Your still luckier than My Duck!" at least she was kinda of laughing when she said it.

Glad I'm not the only one that dumb. Took my rear spring apart a few weeks ago, wasn't even thinking about the spring pressure, it didn't even cross my mind. The center bolt and nut were rusted together, so i had a wrench on it smacking it with a hammer to break it. As soon as it broke....wham! I had it laying flat on my workbench so nothing went flying....the main leaf smacked me in the gut. I was standing far enough away from it that it didn't hurt....but it surprised the hell out of me. I'm lucky no damage was done. Glad you're ok.

Had that happen with an old garage door spring 2 inch round by 2 foot long. Was trying to loosen one end when the rusted bolt on the other end let go missed my face my a hair, knocked my hat off, flew straight up, putting a huge dent/hole in the ceiling, hit the floor behind me, and ended up hitting me in the lower back, leaving an inch long gash. I just stood there dumbfounded and shakig like a leaf for a couple minutes then I finished my beer and went inside to change my underwear:D

Yeah, I told this story before,Sean has a Great Memory. I live in Alameda it's a Island surrounded by water, with a underwater tube and a few draw bridges. Anyway it is the flight path of migrating waterfowl. So Susan up the street puts out haha..Puts out a inflatable pond and the same Ducks stop for a few days every year and she feeds them. I was taking the maiden trip in the Model "A" up the street when the right front Bob Drake Hub cap goes flying off hits the curb and now is flying flat like frisbee it hits the duck and breaks it's neck. I jumped out and was looking in the bushes for the cap when Susan came out. I said "I was sorry" and she said "that's why i doest name them!" I wrote to Bob Drakes and told them. Then I called the Guy who answered the phone was laughing he had just read the email. They sent me a new cap Free...
