Think Nitro would mix with E85?

Nitro Propane number 2 will mix with gasoline, anything over 25% np#2 and nasty things happen FAST.

I had access to hydrazine in the 50's when I worked at Boeing.
I can tell you, It REALLY makes a flathead go fast.
It is extremely corosive and unstable though.
Nitropropane mixes well with any kind of gas.
It will make you go fast also.

I watched a guy red light a car in time trials with a video camera that he had made(told me he could and I called BS). If I remember right he was pointing it at the staging beams? Should have kicked his ***! I went red later that day. Wonder where he was?

The form in which we used it at North American Aviation's Rocketdyne Divsion in the late '50s, early '60s was UDMH -- unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine. Some really nasty ****, almost as bad as other candidate "propellants" we were messing with at the time, things such as RFNA and WFNA -- red fuming nitric acid and white fuming nitric acid.

A buddy of mine bought Dynos Pinto Pro Stocker less engine. We went to fill the tank and gas ran all over. Come to find out the filler only held the checking gas. To fill the tank you unscrewed the filler put the cheater gas in and then screwed the filler neck on with the gas they tested in it. Very ingenious, thats why they check it with a valve in the line by the carbs now. I was in the Air Force reserves with Gary Balough, hes in the slammer for the rest of his life for drug smuggling, same thing he was doing when he was racing. Had to keep doing it after he got caught to pay the lawyers. He will die in prison, its a shame, he was a neat guy. Legal NHRA stocker is an oxy*****, used to run one in the late 60's. What we did then is mild compared tp today

The last big cheating scandle I remember was the Dodge,ProStock team with Scott Goefreon and ...can't think of his name right now. But,they were suspected of cheating, and "ellegedly",someone broke into their shop and vandalized all the stuff in question. HMM...interesting!

I once saw a sbc top fuel motor blow the valve covers and oil pan off the still running motor while staging(back when they push started toward the starting line and crossed over). Hydrazine was the accepted reason and it was later banned. Lots of unbanned stuff is found while trying to gain "maximum compe***ive advantage" and later made illegal. If you have not crowded the line on the rules, you have never raced sucessfully.

all teams cheat or rather "exploit rules" in the rule book till they get re-written. I have a good friend "**** belfattii- The Shadow" who was one of the original "greek fleet" fule cars in the mid 60's. he played with hydrozine in his fuel car and later payed a heffty price for it ,burned the skin off his legs after his engine exploded at a match race in York pa. that explosion made him a team owner and he had bobby vodnick do the driving after that. see the pics of the engine after the explosion (nitro/alky/hydrozine) **** said the hydrozine was good for about 10 mph on the top end (if you got the mix right?)
other rumors of cheating were circulated around the use of NOS on the snakes funny car as well as the bud king funny car in the 80's? rusty glidden ran a prostock car with a hidden NOS "top shot" hood mounted system. he kept the sneaky pete style bottle under hsi fire suit an plugged it in somewhere near the frame rail. he was caught and claimed he did it to show that it could be and was being done???

and the best bracket racer trick I ever saw was on a buddies super gas camaro back in the 80's. he ran IHRA and had a power anttenna behind his aluminum fenderwells with a flat peice of alum on the end. as he charged down the track (if he was behind) he would extend the antenna to trip the lights 1/5 to 2 ft ahead of his tire. never got caught but he rarely needed it.

They just want to test out their expensive toys.
So they can justify asking for more expensive toys.

Propylene Oxide is also specifically banned in the the rule book for Pro Stock for some reason.

It was rumored that the Beebe and Mulligan TFD was running hydrozine when John Mulligan was killed.

I remember talking to Don Buschbacker who was a tech inspector at the time. He had been paid to go look at the car while it was being built. He said it was legal.. or really there was no rules against what they did. He also said there were rumors of him being paid off to p*** the car... which really pissed him off.

Smoky Yunick said it best... "They never said we COULDN'T do it."

He probably built more "legal" cars that were never allowed to race than anybody else. If he did cheat, he didn't need to, because his engineering and out-of-the-box solutions were just amazing. In fact, too amazing for the whiners to keep up with.

The Wayne County deal was a cover up for sure. Lots of pro teams "lose their combination" for a few events or months. But why does the most successful team in PS suddenly get group amnesia after some thugs busted up their shop?

Actually I think NHRA handles their problems quietly and effectively for the most part. It's show business and the sponsors don't like dirty laundry flappin' in the breeze.

Not uncommon for evidence numbers get skewed,to bias the jury.

    That would be 500 Tons,around 10 Tons a week.
    Sounds like a lot,but possible.

Those guys in Washington, with the fishing boats,
were moving at least that much per shipment.

Delay boxes, throttle stops, video cameras? Why not just put in a computor to run the whole thing with a robot driver? What happened to driving the car? I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I had to use all that **** to win. I'm don't even like trans brakes.

Alderman and the Dodge boys had the bottle hidden in a battery with the cable being the NOS line to the engine.Grumpy, way back then, put the bottle in the oil pan and plumbed it up thru the lifter valley.

Snake was running nitrous as were quite a few floppers (been confirmed by a few people) it wasn't outlawed back then so it wasn't cheating, that why he ran the 260mph only a few hours after a fuel dragster first ran 260 (Joe Amato)

its banned in every cl*** rules I've ever looked at, and in general regulations, interestingly hydrazine isn't.......

Grump would use a big motor for doing tire tests. One time,
he had a had a big NOS bottle in plain and ran a "good" number.

Seeing this, someone bet him he couldn't back it up without the bottle.
Grump pulled the bottle out of the car,ran the same number, and collected $1000.

It's my understanding that NOS on a Fuel Car wasn't a power adder persay but a means to control detonation.
