OT: Gyroscopic Wheel Covers - product before its time?

Claiming 16% better gas mileage (to say nothing of the other benefits) this December (not April), 1978 "Rod Action" product announcement makes you wonder if the dudes runnin' around today with the spinning hub caps are getting more miles to the tank

 

I am all for spending less at the pump, but if it means "runnin' spinna's", count me out. LOL

In addition, wow! My Fiesta's don't get me better traction in the snow and wind. And thank heavens I will never have to pay that outragious $4.50 balancing fee again. A savings of $2.50 per fill up, that's like getting .70 gals for FREE! PER FILL UP!

 

Take a dail indicator and a heavy jack stand as a base and check your wheel runout, wheel mounting runout and go for 0 runout. Mark a stud and rotate the wheel for the least run out. Made a difference on our road racing cars.
