I had mentioned the M/C going on my 54 Chevy awhile back. It was pretty rusty so I was just going to replace it. I was told that one from either a standard or Auto would work. O.K. so it will BUT, hey first time swapping one of these. I find a standard M/C in good working order. Only problem and I didn't think it a problem at the time is that the pin that locks the brake shaft (I have an auto wasn't in it. The pin and the bolt that holds it in are different sizes between the two. The one out of mine won't work. So, first, anyone have anything laying around to get me the right stuff? Second, will the right stuff for the standard even work O.K. without the clutch shaft (or something similiar) in it's place? Thanks
Yes , you can get a new pin from national chevy ***ociation , it is round on one edge and notched on the other . I just replaced my m/c on the 53 , the pin was so corroded that i actually had to break it into a million pieces just to get my pedals off the old cylinder . Good luck man .
O.K., I need the part that screws in also that holds it all in. I have one guy looking for me. I also still need to know if it's going to stay in place without the clutch pedal in place.
there is a conversion kit from national chevy ***ociation , to make a manual m/c , into a glider m/c . not sure if the cap comes with the kit but i think i still have the cap from my old cylinder . If I still have it i would practically give it to you . all it would need is a little cleaning up . PM me if your interested .
