I wondered why they hadn't had any of the American hot rod shows going, not even reruns?

I gotta send a prayer up for the family.

    Man that sucks!

Boyd Coddington's work was one of the biggest reasons hot rodding was put back on the map after it's long slumber through the seventies. We all owe him a huge debt of thanks.

Another big pair of shoes to be filled.

I'm still a bit shocked by this. He's about the same age as my Dad, and at one point in my life was a major hot rodding hero. Damn.

  12. I wasn't a fan of what he did to that '59 Chev, but he was a leader in the industry, and I dare say a pioneer.

We're losin too many great builders. Love him or hate him, he had more talent than most of us on this board. And the ones with the talent are the ones who could see his.
We lost a mover and shaker, that is for sure. RIP, big guy.

Unbelievable. Prayers go out to all the Coddington family and friends. A total shock as I just read the other post late last night. No matter what the style, this guy was doing what we all wish we could, he made "wrenching on cars" a BIG business and in a way you've got to appreciate a man with that kind of ambition. No matter what style you're into, Hot Rod is hot rod and blood is blood and EVERY car guy has to be slightly saddened.

    Godspeed Boyd...you did inspire.

Boyd Coddington was the first hot rod builder that I ever knew.

I was probably 10 and in to hot rods with my Father and Godfather and Boyd was like a god to me.

As I got older I started change my style, but I will always remember being in awe of him as he was a really the only namesake builder I knew for along time. Well, Boyd and Troy Trepnier(sp?).

You guys remember the episode of American Hot Rod where he pulled the funnel and the quarter prank on one of his rookie fabricators? All time classic. I will use it in his honor!

RIP Mr. Coddington. You have changed our hobby for ever.

how sad. he probably forgot more about hot rods than i'll ever know. and i can only hope that someday my building talent will equal a small fraction of what he had.

my condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the entire hot rodding world who he impacted.
