I will have two extra seats if needed, we are staying at the Renaissance Center. So we will have to go over there to get to the car.

Can't stress it enough, what Bob is doing and going through to set this up is a BIG deal. This is GM's personal museum. You have to go. There's so much money in that place (sitting on 4 wheels) its amazing to say the least. There's even neon dealership signs! and engine displays!!!! and hood ornaments! And old show cars, new show cars, race cars, drag cars, restored cars. YOU NEED TO GO< don't delay If you got it down to $12.00 a person that'd be great, that would buy you a hotdog and a bottle of water down in the ba*****t at autorama.....go see a peice of history. IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT

Reminder for those going from Cobo to the Heritage Ctr:
I-75 between 94 & 375 is down to 2 lanes each way. That means that traffic will ****.
Daves right it may take an hour to get there.

For GM people, that are on here. THIS THURSDAY (feb. 21st) There is an open house at the Heritage center for family and friends. It is free with your GM badge. Don't miss it, it will be a different set-up then what will be at Autorama.

you guys are on crack if you think its going to take a hour to get to warren from detroit... i just did it the other morning is rush hour traffic and it took me 15 min. the lanes that are down are in a low traffic area and morning traffic is south bound not north bound.... i would allow for a 1/2 hour tops and if im wrong you all can come around the block and toiletpaper my house.

get my money order yet bob?

  14. Ya'all are gonna love it.
I'm a GM Employee and have been there a couple of times for different events. This place is rich with history and cars that you will not see anywhere else. There are lots of examples of early GM cars and trucks that nicer ones do not exist in the world. The most beautiful 55 chevy I have ever seen is there with lots of other gourgeous tri 5 and other year GM stuff. Worth the trip ant $50 a head, let alone $20

-Nice write-up on the Heritage Center in my Hemmings magazine that just arrived today. (I get all of the Hemmings Pub. mags...so, I'm not "positive" which one it is...) but, I believe it is in Hemmings Cl***ic Car. Fantastic pictures, I wish I could go!! I think the article said that they have a total of 450 engines alone on display!!

I won't be able to go, but I just wanted to say thanks to bob. You don't meet people that cool everyday. My old man grew up in Detroit so I hope to make it up there sometime. Maybe I can finish my 46 and take him up next year.

I didn't realize till I saw the pictures but I met the guy that sold a lot of the cool stuff including the speedster above to GM...Pinkee Randal. Very neat older guy. Larry's Goodyear wheels came from him and they were on one of the cars before it was sold. he took them off to put the original wheels back on.

That's pretty cool Clark, that little red speedster is my favorite car out of the whole bunch (well maybe after the Y). It is such a cool little sports car made in 1920!
Here are a few more pictures,

Thanks for the pix, Aaron. I think the wall behind the picture of Garret and the rocket car is where my boys will spend the bulk of their time. Court wants to bring a creeper so he can get a better look.

I had a private invite to see the collection a few weeks ago... it is always a fluid collection as cars are coming and going all the time. In 6 months, you might see 40+ cars that weren't there before!
