Any Olds gurus notice the "Edmunds" manifold??? The flat area between the carbs looks like it has "raised" letters or something? The Edmunds 2x2s for Olds all seem to have the Edmunds name cut in, not raised like that. ???
I remember seeing that engine on Ebay within the last year or two. Apparently it wasn't the same one. It didn't bring big money though surprisingly. I almost bought it. Great combination of parts and car! Kind of reminds me of putting that glasstop Ford together. Hope he fairs better on this than I did! He should. That's a waaaaay nicer car.
My high school car.........Black '50 Olds Coupe, but with whitewalls and without the experimental engine. These photos bring back the memories! WOW
wow That car is smoking hot. I've often thought about a 50 Olds as a potential project and that car seals the deal for me. I gotta try and find one of them.
I was sitting in that last week making cool engine noises. the window sticker is $42.500 so I was going to drive it home but was $42,495 short that day. it is awesome and worth every dime. The story on the engine, GM built several with 10 to 1 and 12 to 1 compression and sent them to the major oil companies to develop fuel for more performance. very few were saved after testing, I'll bet many of the tests were conducted late nights on the streets
