Been on the board a while so heres my intro.I'm an old fart, 65 in Jan of 2008. Grew up in Pleasant Grove,Dallas,W.W.Samuell HS .Started reading Hot Rod at 12 years, bought a 34 Ford basket case at 14. Me and my bud put it together in about two years just in time for my drivers license at age 16. Drove the 34 all thru high school, drag races at Caddo Mills, Green Valley, Circle. Traded the 34 for a 32 five window, drove it a while ,got married, sold the 32 for $350!!! IT was a running full fendered ,no rust, no dents, Olds w/Cad-Lasalle side loadernothing new ,most old farts have a story like this. Kinda lost interest for a while but I bought a 40 ford tudor and got back in the mood about five years ago when I realized times running out! The 40 is on the road now with a 351w,mII,aod,air,power,etc. No interior yet but I'm having a ball learning about paint, body(done all my own work).I'm still a rank amateur but learning.Never did any paint ,body as a kid ,just mechanical stuff. We did do some painting with fly sprayers though, anyone remember that. HAMB has been a great help, love the nostalgia, the tech archives and the ability to keep up with whats going on in the hot rod world.
howdy . got any picture`s from caddo mills. home movies maybe ? my dad raced there 53-55 ? in a chopped and channelled 32 5 window coupe.
Welcome...I remember the fly sprayer/paint gun....been there and done that. Got better results with an old vacuum cleaner tho.
