While at Starbirds last weekend, I bought three magazines that I've never heard of before. I found a magazine from Germany called "Smokin Shutdown." The Cool stuff booth http://www.coolstuffvideos.com/ had three issues so I had to buy them. The magazine is printed on the same kind of paper (weight) as Hop Up Mag, 130 pages and way too kool. Kustoms, Hot Rods and classy pin ups, how could it be bad.....

Just a heads up on a kool magazine.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Eventually I would be interested in buying some of the other back issues.

I just got a few issues of this magazine, it's a good one for sure.

Anybody seen any of their DVDs? I might have to try and get a hold of those too...

Thom, Tina and Bud are good folks. They're also dedicated to hot rodding and make routine trips around the US participating and covering events. It shows in the mag.

Their magazine is amongst the best, and they have several cool Bonneville and hot rod projects in the works as well.

I found some on Ebay and it looks like they're from Gambino Kustom.
I bought mine from John at Cool Stuff, he is a HAMBer.

Nice to know... The Magazine is so kool I thought that it had to have a HAMB following. I guess that I was just out of the kool loop. Tell them that they are doing a great job. Love how the magazine articles are written in English and German . One of these days I'll be able to speak German. LOL!!

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

As Scott Noteboom said, Thom, Tina and Bud are great people. They travel around California for 3 months every year and hit as many events as they can, then they write articles about these events and they also do articles on Car Clubs, Pinup's, artist's and shop's. They publish a high quality magazine which is sold internationally.
I'm building a 1934 Graham coupe for Thom right now, I've posted some pic's of it here on the HAMB. And after that I'll be building a 1937 LaSalle coupe for Bud, who is Thom's partner.
You can order the latest Issue #16 from my website, if you're looking to get one, Plus I'll be the first to have the Smokin' Special which will be available at the end of february. I'll also be the first to have the next Issue #17 available, which should be availabe in aabout a month and a half. Just check out my web site for more info.

Thom plans to be back in Cali. at the end of Mai so that he can hit Santa Maria with his "new" Graham.

The three that I bought were printed in both languages. The articles will have both translations running side by side. Very Kool idea. I bought magazine the other day and I could not read it. Pictures are worth 1,000 words but miss reading the background information.

I have one of the DVDs, can't remember which one at the moment. It's pretty good , especially for European scene coverage. There's very little i dialogue but they show a lot of cars.

if the DVD came with a booklet that would be the last one, jan 07. if its without a booklet these are quite a bit older, #9 or #10.
and we skipped the dialog for more cars ;-))
