I sure miss New Mexico. I spent 20 years in the northeastern part, and split for Texas. Well know I want to go back. I miss the beauty and the at***ude. I've got to stay here for a while because of the job, but that doesn't mean I can't go ahead and get a piece of land to call mine in NM. So I am looking. Don't really care where in the state as long as it has some trees on it. Would like to be in a area where adobe is availiable, I want to build another one. What I would like to do is trade a toy or two or three for some acreage. What do you have? Interested? I know the state pretty good and can tell you quickly if I'm interested. Will be traveling thru in late March so I could look. Let me know.
I lived in New Mexico for a time. Albuquerque. I was single at the time. My work took me to Arkansas and that is where I found my bride. We went on to Florida, the Phillipines, and Illinois and all along the plan (my plan) was to retire in New Mexico. Silver City or possibly a little South of Santa Fe on the road that runs East of the Sandias. My wife humored me. But when retirement came, well, we settled close to her folks. My point? If you have a p***enger in your life you may have to compromise a bit. And really, as things have worked out it is OK. I'd rather be anywhere with my wife than living in New Mexico without her.
I lived in Albuquerque a year, two different years in Roswell, and about six years in Santa Fe. I love the place.... It took a while to be accepted into the local car community in SF, but once I was, it seemed like all the guys considered me a friend. And buying an old car there without a speck of rust most of the time is a real treat... especially after eastern Kansas humidity and what it does to cars. I still think I'll be back in New Mexico someday. I miss it too. Guess I'll just get out my Two Lane Blacktop and replay the Santa Fe scenes.
I grew up in Raton, NM...I live in Albuquerque. It ****s here. I'm growing more towards a smaller surrounding.....I plan to move up there someday and buy a piece of property....build a garage.....set up a cot...drink beer.....
Lived in Albuquerque 1965 to 1967, was stationed at Kirtland AFB,was on base for awhile. Had an apt off Gibson , one on Texas, and a house up in the hights on Hains NE., then went to Vietnam. Been back a few times , last time was 1995, my daughter lives in Edgwood, still miss it, great place. Someone has my 53 Ford F100, droped front axle, had a 55 Olds engine and trans, tuck and roll interia, probly is still there.
If you want trees near Albuquerque you either need to be by the river, or in the mountains - I chose mountains.
I live in southern NM, Carlsbad area I love it here. I guess I'm a desert rat, I can go wheelin, muddin, racing and off roading all in the same weekend. Only drawback is getting stuff shipped out here. Oh well, I lived in bigger places and can handle a "boring" town, where I can build rods damn near year round in the driveway.
"Circle of Fire" Red River area. Check into the tax auctions. you can pick up acerage for just the back taxes.
