Well i thought i would share this story with some car guys.

In about 1984 when i was 6 years old my dad brought home a car for us both to work on, He gave it to me and we worked on this car until about 1990 when i was 12. When my dads bodyshop went under and our house got forclosed on we had to sell it. Needless to say these were hard times and i understood, however that did'nt stop me from being heartbroken about the whole mess. This car always lingered in the back of my mind and in 1995 or so i tried to buy it back from the guy who my dad had sold it to but he was'nt selling.I had a lot of good memories surounding that car.It was my very first car, it was also the first car i ever worked on and i had done a lot of body work on it with my dad.
Fast forward to Feb 12,2008.I went to see one of my friends because he dabbles in old cars and i had just sold my 66 Mustang so i was looking for somthing to make a dollar on. I walked into my buddy's body shop and i could not believ it.There it sat the EXACT SAME CAR 1949 chevy 2 door sport coupe AND IT WAS FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was doing cart wheels on the inside!!! The guy my dad sold it to still owned it and he was asking 1500 for it but it was in rough shape because the years had not been kind! I managed to get it for a 1000 which was still to much in my opinion but hey i would have given 2500 for the car just because it was the exact same car!!!
Here it is after a 18 year absence being unloaded at my house!!! 1949 chevy 2 door sport coupe..... :D:D

Great story. Welcome to the HAMB. You'll find it an excellent resource for traditional hot rods and a heck of alot more. Nice Chevy by the way.

That's awesome, and just to make you feel better, I paid a lot more than that for my 50 Sport Coupe in a lot worse shape up here in Maine. I lived in Dothan for a while and I know that often what southerners call unsalvageable, Yankees call "mint". It's incredible that you got the car back, and I got a good feeling you'll never have to let her go again.
    Welcome.
