I'm exhausted from looking for a 1966-67 buick 340 intake. now my question is, will any other intakes fit this motor? Ive been on numerous forums and wika whatevers trying to get a answers with no help. Ive been offered a 2bbl intake, but would really run the stock 4bbl intake. being the considered horspower difference ie 220 to 260, i have a pretty nice carter for it. I know this isnt really a desirable motor and i can see why but it has been rebuilt and i hate to just toss it aside. Besides it's wayyy different then what you ussually see. Thanks for any help guys
Like I said in your other thread, it's got to be from a 340. 300 intakes are narrower, and 350 intakes have a different port arrangement.
Worst case senario, make a "Y" adapter and put twin 2bbl's on the 2 bbl intake. Just open up the throttle bore area as much as you dare, to keep the restriction down and the flow rate up. If it's not going to be out for all the world to see, a big 2bbl ain't all that shabby for an engine of that displacement. I run one on a 350 Chevy and the thing goes "very well". The Street stock/ hobby Stock guys run them and get a bit over 350 HP out of a 350, which ain't shabby at all.
grab you a hemmings motor news and look for the buick section. there is a guy that cast all kind of motor stuff for the buicks. i used to have a 74 century gs and bought a set of aluminum valve covers from him along with the intake. i cannot think of his name but im certain he could help you. sorry for not remembering his name but he has a big ad in there usually.
They do exist, a buddy of mine drives a 66' skylark with a 340 and it does have the stock 4bbl manifold. Its no screamer but its got decent pick-up and it has been very dependable. I'd say search ebay, hemmings, and other forums. One will pop up eventually.
