Any HAMBer get a knee replacement? Would like to know how you made out. I'm going in on March 10th to get the right one done, one at a time, hope to be able to drive to the Jalopy show down in May.

  2. A good friend had one done right after the new year.
He has not had a good time with it.
He has been unable to bend it all the way. He says he might as well have a wooden leg. He cannot work in the shop, or drive his tow rig, or anything with a clutch.
So this morning, he went back in for them to strap him down and FORCE it to bend.
I have not spoken to him yet. They said that he would be back to where he was pain wise like it was 2 weeks out from the surgery.
From his experience, I'd say it is optimistic to be ready to rock in 2 months.
But every person is different. Good luck with your procedure.

Im guessing your friend didnt do everything his physical th****** told him to do. It takes alot of hard work to keep the joint flexible and build back the muscles. However if you work hard at it's like having a brand new knee.
I havent had it done but my mother did on both knees and she gets around just fine.

I know folks that had them done & they walk just fine & have had no problems. BUT I also know a couple that have had nothing but problems, why I don't know. I guess it all depends on a few things, the doctor knowing what he's doing, a clean hospital & a patient doing everything the doc tells them to do.

Personally I'd find the best dam doctor you can find and that "you" think is the "BEST" doctor for the job....joe

My mom had it done, when she was in her late 60's! It was tough for her, especially the rehab part, but her knees had been practically locked straight for a long time before she got the guts to have them done. So her muscles were in bad shape. She was also overweight.
If she could do it, it should be a breeze for you!
