gm 1 wire

    Carquest offers a one wire alternator. Ask for:

    Part # 7127-1WAN for 63 amp new alternator
    7294-1WA for 94 amp reman alternator
    7820-1WA for 105 amp reman alternator

    I got a nice chrome one off egay for around 60 bucks. Looks nice seems to work but ive only run the engine a short time.

  4. why don't you just use the normal three wire? it really isn't hard to wire, you have the jumper wire to #2 and the wire to excite it to #1....so it isn't much more

    Are you starting from scratch or putting it on a rig that had the external regulator alternator?
    From scratch the internal regulator alternator would be easier.
    If replacing an external regulator alternator you might just want to stay with that if the wiring is good.

    I've still got the external regulator on my 71 Gmc and it still humms along after 100000 miles so no biggie.

    its a whole new setup i dont want a bunch of wires sooooo thats the main reason
