Ok so we're faced with the fact that they'll be no "Rock a billy rumble".its been a week so now we have to come up with a good summer show to replace it( hard to do).A show where we can hang out & listen to music for a few hours. Any suggestions? How about some other clubs out there? I'll do what i can to help. jimV
This event date has been moved so as not to conflict with the Fourth of July holiday. It's bac to the same weekend as two years ago.
If i had the room i would gladly have it here.Unfortunetly the house we bought has a small yard.Last year i had the room, even though i rented the landlord did let me have a good size"BBQ/show". i think skip has the right idea, the show in Hudson has the grounds & the place for bands. Maybe we should try & make that work jim V
I tried to talk the promoter into it but he still views this more as a Rockabilly concert than a rod & custom show. Being a music related activity, he's still looking at the after-hours aspect, although, in the past, everyone's left by dusk. I'll p*** it along, though. I don't run it, I only help out.
June 27th and 28th Rumblers show Terryville, CT. It might not be an exact replacement, but plenty of room lots of Traditional Stuff , Bands , Swap Meet Etc. It will be near impossible to replace the Rumble !!! Hope to see you all There
We need to so something! It should be noted though there is still the Rumblers/Nomads show in Terryville, the Murdercycles Hot Rod Riot, Hot Rod Fallout, the Milltown show in M***, and a new Hot Rod show also in M*** put on by 100% Kulture (www.100percentkulture.com under "shows")..... If someone wants to get serious about another replacement show contact me, I've been wanting to put something on even before we heard of this news. Anyone have ideas for a loacation?... -Dean
http://www.roadratsny.com/index2.htm heard it was a similar setup to road agents show, except its on the water. i'm sure roadrateddy will post some pics from last year. i know i'll be there this year, heard it was great show.
Guys,Next summer, the Road Trotters CC here in NJ,is going to have a show in one of the county parks.I am going to talk to Luke and pick his brain for ideas.I will keep you guys informed. But we have the Road Devils Peel Out here in NJ,The Rumblers Kustom Kills and Hot Rod Thrills in Williamsburg,Brooklyn. Then there is Lead East,Labor Day weekend.Joe Manna,President-Road Trotters CC
Hey Skip,do you think my car will be allowed at that Hudson Show,I would really like to go to it?I mean it isnt period correct.
Ive gone to the hudson show the two years they've had it. Last year was a bust because of the 4th of July holiday, the year before (when the road agents took the year off) was great! --- so, in short, I see this being a real good "dont miss show". I went to Terryville last year and had a great time. I always look forward to the Alterboys show at Ralphs each year in worcester, MA. This has been one of my 2-3 favorite shows a year to attend. Ive really enjoyed it since they have held the event at Ralphs (my old stompin grounds). I think its way better than the drive in in mendon m*** and there are always quality cars and a good vibe at this show. Also charlie (1 arm bandit) and crew puts on a great show in CT in OCT (missed it last year because of a wedding, went the first year). They also had live music which was a plus. I remember driving my open air roadster in my monkey suit wearing welding gloves all the way from my house to glastonbury, CT saying to myself " I must be F%^%ing crazy", but when I got there, I had a real good time and glad I made the cold trek out. I'll be there this year(unless another buddy decides to get married that weekend) those 4 events are on my list of "to dos" along with the Nost drag racing meets this summer in Epping and the ones that capital area roadsters have in Lebanon valley, NY ......As for a gl*** 32 in Hudson.....I dont think that'd be a problem. They would have loved to see the car there last year. worse that can happen is you drive your car there and have to park it in the lot instead of the grounds, you'll still get to see a great show and meet some friends. Thats how I look at it at least.....
john, your 32 would defiantely be accepted, i've seen some cars there done up similar, i wouldn't worry about any problems at all getting in with it!
We will be trying our best to fill the void. It will be a hard task as the Road Agents show was completely awesome.
Of course we'll all miss the road agents show! I had a great time last year at the Road Rats 1st show on long island. I bet thats gonna be real good show for this summer. As you can see in this pic there were a lot of cars there Rumblers shows are always cool, Hot Rod Fallout, Jalopy Showdown is a must, tyrods, all-timers, milltown, hotrod hoedown, lead east, and theyre are a few around that are a bust, but theres also a lot of potential out there. I'd like to see some new good shows up here in the north east. I'll be there, paint in hand. I'm also thinking about a show for HotRodRevival.Com, I'll keep you posted!
There is nothing better than Lead East. It CAN be done relatively inexpensively, and if you guys put your distaste for Terry Cook aside, the show is a blast with a ton of cars and nonstop partying. Everyone *****es and moans that it's a "gold chain" show, but if everyone from the Road Agent's show came that would cease to be
....and ya gotta stay up 'til dawn at the Gup's gutbucket R&B party in the parking lot Saturday night/Sunday Morning.
And If ya come to joisey for this you need to be here on WED for the Radir wheel preparty. DJ, live band, food & beer, about a thousand cars. no chainers or at***udes. And with lead east, if you stay in the outer lots, the company is a lot higher quality. All the day trip guys don't get to park around the hotel. Frank
You're right Frank. The Radir Wheels party is no joke. But I have to be honest, I have yet to encounter many "at***udes" at Lead East. There are really aren't that many more 'chainers than at other shows. The "rat rod" element has been increasing at shows like the Road Agent's and The Rumblers in recent years, and like the 'chainers, most of them didn't build their cars either. If you can get over the "you didn't build it" mindset, the 'chainers are often very friendly, cruise all weekend, and have some of the nicest cars around, which are well worth checking out. I broke down my total expenditures last year, as I attended both shows with cars, and I spent $50 more at Lead East for 3 days than the Road Agent's for 2. There are just 2 completely different at***udes that creep into either: Lead East has the gold chain element, and the Road Agent's has the rockasilly ******** greaser (with no car) element. Both ****, but 90% of everyone else is super cool
Well we will be having the RADIR WHEELS open house party on the Wed. before Lead East and we have one rule. All cars 1972 or older are allowed to show up. There is no fee for entry except we ask you bring one of three items: Beer - water/soda - or food. Last year we had over 1000 cars in attendance. We hope that everybody with a "hot rod" shows up.

Nosurf- can't believe I missed that one, I drive by it every other day to pick up my girlfriend. Thats a cool idea, I'll look into it. There isn't much happening there anymore (at least compared to how it used to be I'm sure) so I bet they would be up for anything. I'll keep you posted, -Dean
You need any help with ANY show you do Charlie- Ill be glad to help where I can. I know sometimes you guys all see me as the place to create gold chain dreams , but Im still an old school guy at heart. See you at my Open House- heard a few people are thrilled (?!) you are coming.
