Have you guys ever heard of Bob Wingate? There was a Bob Wingate in the 70's that always sold low mileage , west coast , 55-57 Chevys. You always saw his ads in Hemmings Motor News back then. I wonder if its the same guy. Anyway, this stuff is from some old Rod&Custom mags from 62-63. This is some valuable info if you don't know it already. By now all those early plastic promos have turned inside out from warpage, but it all looked good on his shelf then! Its a good history lesson.
Here's a few re-builds I did. The '29 roadster was an old built ebay find. Had a sloppy blown 392 and a few messed up parts. Built a blown Merc flathead for it, '32 radiator shell with a painted spider web, exhaust and straightened out the suspension. The Mustang was a stock build I did 10 years ago, ripped it apart and built a tube ch***is for it with straight axle and a mid-car mounted dual quad 427 side-oiler. The driver sits forward of a firewall, against the widesheild. And the '63 Galaxie was another ebay find. Made a replacement hood for it and changed the slicks, headers, and hand painted the lettering. Runs a injected, supercharged 390 FE. -Dean
It's really fun seeing the amazing work you folks put into these little beauties. Brings back memories. When I was in high school ('63-'64) a friend of mine's dad had a plastics plant. He had contracts from AMT (which was just around the corner at that time in Troy, MI), and MPC to make the models. We would go to the plant on Sundays and there would be cardboard boxes on pallets (probably 5' square) full of models to be melted back down because of some minor flaw in the parts. There were literally thousands of parts sorted into colors only. Chrome, white, black, etc. We took whatever we wanted. Bodies, frames, tires wheels, engines...what ever we wanted. I was never very good at building. Too impatient. I'm sorry I never kept anything from those days. Your work is extraordinary. Thanks for the memories! Bill
