My youngest brother does VW's exclusively. NO fords, no chevys or any other kinda car. He works for a VW dealership and all his family's daily drivers are P***ats and Rabbits and that kinda ****. He will not drive anything but a VW, period! This is his 13 year long effort at a traditional, [1960] yet VW-ish ..............er, car. It's chopped a bunch and has a hot rod motor...that's all I know except everytime I'd go over to his house, I'd ask him how his "VD" [short for Vee-Dub] was coming. He'd tell me stories of exploding water heaters, broken sprinkler systems, high tuitions for the kids, mortgage payments etc etc etc.. Never much progress on the "chop-top" as it was always refered to.. Well, this summer he put on a huge push to get it on the street and VIOLA! It lives.....he's pumped beyond belief and sent me this photo of it before striping the flames or cleaning up the wide whites... Enjoy, he is!
I love Vee Dub's there is a super chopped silver metalflake one in town here. Rocky your brother does good work, but you need to make him work faster.
looks good Rocky......I have had the same illness before... cured now though, but cars like that give me flash backs
Right on!!! I've got a 23-window VW bus thats going on 6 years.... Seems to get pushed back project after project. -Jason
[ QUOTE ] I sense an onslaught of negative comments in the near future from others...but I like it. [/ QUOTE ] nnnnaaaaaa, everybody loves Rocky and hes the toughest guy in the valley although I do commend you on your usage of the word onslaught I think it is pretty cool, if I had a favorite VW this would be it
Has anyone checked the vw in the last rolls and pleats with the green metalflake and the custom roof it was guite bad *** too. I think it was out of japan with a blown VW engine.
The last time I checked, I owned 6 VW's. I don't think I left any out. Oh, I sold 4 others, right before the move to Missouri. I forgot about the 59 356 Porsche, it's almost a VW, and it's still in my Possession. Dean
Rocky, I like it, love the over all effect.Always wanted a window van, wedge chopped, with a big v-8 mounted in the middle of it!Just never got around to it,hard to find one thats not a rust bucket.Reggie.
[ QUOTE ] although I also expected an "onslaught" of negative feedback.. [/ QUOTE ] Come on Rocky, you could post a picture of a turd, and call it Traditional, and everyone would agree. Dean
Really Dean? Ok, lets try out my great power.. Fellow HAMBers! This is now considered traditional!!!!!
[ QUOTE ] Really Dean? Ok, lets try out my great power.. Fellow HAMBers! This is now considered traditional!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] If Rocky says so, I guess I will have to save up for some new wheels so I can fit in at the next HAMB Drags! Mike
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/image_uploads/428115-americruisecoupe2.jpg[/url] This will be tradional in the days, years to come as 2000ish. In fourty or so years, the old timers will be tellin the youngins, "Had me one of those, back in the day"
Nice Bug!! I've been into VWs since birth and drive my '67 camper daily. Looks like he's got adaptors and is running real american steel wheels, too! -Taylor
Colorado 51...that car was from Colorado. Guy showed up in Lincoln for Americruise last year..nice guy. Dean........nice Rambler! I'll bet you wish you had one just like it....wait..............you do! Have you done anything with it? Will it be at the HAMB drags??? I couldn't find any of those NOSS jets, sorry!
ROCKY, yer brother's Bug is KILLER!!! i love it. we should have Cherry Blossom's Bug back lookin like a car again in a couple weeks. post some more pics when he gets it striped...
Here's his interior. My other brother did the cartoons on the door panels. When I sat in it, I immediately got a nose bleed from all the bright colors!....
Rocky: chopped, flames, primer, ww's, loud interior, it's really cool even if is a VW. let him thru the gates.

I couldn't find any of those NOSS jets, sorry! [/ QUOTE ] The Rambler won't be at the HAMB Drags. It's resting in the barn. I bought some NOS tail light lenses, another grille, and a two carb finned head for the flathead 6. I fixed the radiator, and the shifter (damn kids). I drove it around a little after I bought it from you. I'm like you, to many projects, not enough time. Dean
Jeff....he told me the cc's of the engine and I forgot but I can tell you he started with a 1600 dual port. I believe it's over 1700 cc's now. And check this! He's running the exhaust and mufflers back behind the engine instead of out the back of the car. Lemme see if I have a photo of the engine....it's something you'll never forget.
