Gotta do some searching for this....been covered. Also check out Kingkustomstemecula.com He has some serious skill.

Also helps to add how much? Straight pillar? Leaned pillar? I just got a 51 tudor and am planning on either hacking the roof off and having a FUUUN summer, or chopping it. If I do, Ill post pics.

Good luck with the job either way!

  3. There is a lot of information on the HAMB. Just do a forum search. Its good to see another Southsider on the HAMB. If your in the neighborhood stop in for our weekly Saturday HAMB & EGGS breakfast at Chuck's Barbeque, At 79th and Central. Dont know how many will be there this week . Theres a mass exodus to the Autorama for this weekend. Check in on the HAMB & Eggs thread for status. I've got a chop in progress on a 48 Buick fastback , just need to quit working on others auto. Your welcome to stop in to look.
Oh , dont forget to post an intro . Some doors open easier with one.

Just some advice. Don't take out too much. It's easier to take out more than have to put some back.

Take your time and plan everything out. Search on here for ones that look good. I'm partial to mine but that's me. IMO anything over 5-5.5 inches in the front is too much. Mine is 5 and if I did it again I would have went 4-4.5. Also the rear window area is the trickiest to make look right. There's a few different techniques on executing the rear window area. I based a lot of mine off of Rod and Customs chop from a few years back with Scott Guildner. Look it up on their site.

thats what i did when i chopped my 49. the Rod and Custom series was pretty in depth and looks really good. but im with him 5 1/4" is what mine is cut at and i think it was a little much. look around at the chops out there and get an idea what you want and go for it. i would get the Rod and Customs for reference if i was you, but if you need copies PM me and ill email you the copies or just send them to you via US mail.

I took six inches out of the front and seven and one half out of the rear. I like it, but I had to lower the seat.

Come out for breakfast with the HAMB & EGGERs on Sat. at Chuck's Barb B -Q on 79th/ Central..We Meet up at 7:00, but stay until 9:00 or so. Tiger Mark has a 49 chevy thats chopped. You can take a look at it, we live close by. Its a rad chop& its rough, so its easiler to see whats been done to it. Where about do you live on the SS of Chicago?
