i think the early ones had the indentation in the firewall where the gas filter went, and the late was flat...iam not 100% also the early ones had slight bend across the middle....

I believe the late 31 firewall had the large teardrop shaped indent on the right (p***) side that can be seen filled on the left side of the reversed firewall.

OK, whattaya do with the lower section where the indent for the A engine now protrudes into the engine bay, same question about the area where the floor boards used to rest. I was planning to do this too.

The early (or first design '30 to '31) firewall has the fuel shut-off valve on the inside of the car, and the firewall is flat where the fuel line exits. The late '31 firewall moved the fuel shut-off valve to the engine compartment (inside the tear drop shaped recess). The late '31 firewalls also use a different design fuel tank.

  20. Hey. I was JUST about (like 2 hours) away from cutting mine for a nailhead. Would flipping the firewall give enough room?

  21. Hi. I'm doing this to my 30 sedan. How much extra space do you achieve when you flip the firewall. Obviously you can't use the stock gas tank anymore, right?

    Thanks, Hud
