and bullseye this is the car! geeeeze and if anyone is gonna take it I aint liable. try to find the owner dammit, dont do anything that will put you in the pokey for awhile. If you guys are serious about mercs check strasburg va outskirts ive seen three. back side of Linden VA near some damn vineyards theres a decent one sitting right near a barn. Front royal is loosing alot of old cars due to the cidiots taking all the farm land but some straglers out that way. winchester, fredrick county, by god WV is a haven. not only are there old cars everywere they can be bought for natty ice or PBR.
and sorry for the lack of replys to some PM's I'm waiting for this flu to go away or death to find me.
I went out to look at the car today. IT IS STILL THERE I have been passing it for years. The old man who owns it is very old and sick, but alive. The junk guy who is cleaning the land up is from Louisa County. I know a guy who knows him. Apparently he got paid a pretty amount to clean it up and he gets to keep everything. He is working on cleaning a property in Louisa County right now and actually offered a 1947 IH dump truck to my friend from that property. Anyway my friend has been trying to get that car for a couple years. I asked my friend to follow up on it and I’ll keep an eye out to see what is going on. I don’t want the car, but I’m all up for helping one of you guys get it. Whoever left a note on the windshield, it’s still there. I’ll let you guys know if I find anything else out. If you are really interested in owning the car, you can PM me your contact info just in case.
It was still there this afternoon- waiting for the HAMB Rescue Rangers to save it! Here's how it looks from the road: It was raining this afternoon. The note in the window is plainly visible.
Damn I hate living in so cal we never have anything like that around here! lol just damn track homes! Id be all over that Merc if I lived closer. I hope someone from the H.A.M.B get its
Hey Solo,i'm ever farest than you,too bad....there is no way to organize to raise some funds thru Hambers quick enuff to pay the guy and take it away from the sure crush??? it will be really sad, this car looks almost new to me....
OK just a quick update on the car. I spent a LOT of time doing my homework on this car, ended up backtracking a house number through a host of avenues, and the one that ended up paying off was there happened to be an old trucking company registered through the Virginia DMV to that property, yielded a phone #, so on, so forth. Anywho, just got off the phone with the owner of the car after a 30 minute or so conversation, and the car is not for sale. He wasnt one of those "Screw off its not for sale folks" more his late brother had one, and he wanted to fix it up like it. He wanted someone familiar with Mercs to do it, and he is saving my number so we will see what happens. It seems that this was more the case of "Eminent Domain" strikes back with having to have the property cleared etc to appease the town before they took the property. Whoever said they wanted to build big condos on thier property is proabably not far off. Well, thats it.
