…..and what is it worth? Just kidding. I know what it is and thought some of you might be interested. I found this in our s**** metal trailer at work a couple of months ago. If it weren’t for the HAMB, I wouldn’t have known what it was and left it. Anyone not know what it is? I don’t have a car to use it on, but that’s alright, it will go on a shelf for future use. It seems to work, it has a cord attached that rotates the media drum when pulled and has a spring return. Does it look familiar to anyone as to make or age.

Is the media replaceable? Any information on the internet about them? Parts, etc.

Is that what they call a swamp cooler or somthing like that? Precursor to A/C. You put ice in it right?

The media looks okay in this one. Just dirty and I am sure old. The back comes off it. But then there is a plate the shaft goes thru behind it with a tar like sealant. I'm not interested to tearing it apart if it ruins it.

No, this one takes water just like a regular swap cooler. The pad is rotated thrut he water to wet it as it dries during use.

and dont ever put dry ice in it you will die!!!

I filled mine up with water and dawn and shook it around and dumped it out a couple times to clean it up. It actually saved my *** a couple of years thru the desert at 120 degrees.

I have one just like it, too.
The friend that gave it to me used to overfill it with water so his p***enger would get a lap full of water when they shut the door too hard:eek:.

Yours looks like it might be a Firestone brand. It should have two clothesline-type cords to turn the vane open/shut on the inner side. They usually dry rot and break.Good luck restringing them!
When hung from your p***enger window and operating well, they can move some air!
You sure can't see for #!!%&&!!# out the window with it on the vehicle!

I put some envelopes in mine, addressed to "resident."
Those not-in-the-know wonder why in the hell someone would have a mailbox on their hot rod?
