Incredible! I hope it makes it to TX for the Roundup. Congrats to chopolds and everyone else that get that truck together, it is beautiful. And where'd that TV come from?!! hahahaaa
i sure hope you dont find the exhaust pipe... i cant believe how nice this truck turned out, what an awesome clone!
Man that looks soooo goooood!!! i have one question though, will Barris be there this weekend? i hope he is, and i would love to know his reaction to seeing it for the first time. i bet he has some neat stories to tell about the build of the original one.
Yup. You have to remember the time period. Most people didn't have a television in their home. Having one in the back of a truck was WAY over the top. And all the rappers think THEY were being innovators!
and they used to have record players and phones in there to, but what i want to know is were the phones ever functional. my dad back in '61 or so had a real nice 57 chevy hardtop with all of the speed and custom goodies and he told me he stole a receiver out of a phone booth to look like he had one in his car. he told me he would sit at red lights acting like he was talking to someone trying to impress the young ladies.
It's vinyl or leather, not sure which. Lots of late '50s and early 60s cars had padded areas on the outside of the bodywork and under the hood. The X-Sonic '56 Vette had a padded insert in the side cove for a while, lots of cars had padded inner fenderwells, etc... It is kind of funny reading the responses, they were doing some odd things back in those days huh?
Yea, we were doing that well into the seventies! Here's a clip from one of my favorite old detective shows. He had a phone in his car and the reciever was as big as a damn size 12 shoe! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa0_K2bVA_M Man, I hope the Kopper Kar makes a p*** through Texas. I'd really dig seeing it in person. Iconic.
Wow, that came out beautiful! I'm digging the tuck n' roll covers on the pedals and the triple side pipes. Man, those were the days. The lighting in that location looks pretty good too, the copper finishes really stand out. One of my favorite cars. Thanks for posting the pics.
looks awesome! are those the plastic "Barris" words on the side? or is that temporary? i only ask because in the pictures the words don't look raised like i thought they were suppose to be.. i cant wait to see it in person!
